I’m no saint.
If she dared to mess with me, she had to pay the price. I had my lawyer compile all the evidence of nis infidelity and sent it directly to Chloe’s university’s ethics department.
She was still interning, meaning she hadn’t officially graduated yet.
Such a moral misconduct, violating university regulations, naturally had only one outcome.
Chloe was expelled.
I heard from company employees that Chloe’s father and mother also learned about their daughter’s unsavory behavior because of the expulsion. They were so furious that they came all the way from their hometown to the company.
Chloe’s father slapped her directly, and Daniel almost got hit too.
They forced her to resign immediately, threatening to disown her if she didn’t.
How could Chloe agree?
Expelled from university, how could someone with only a high school diploma find another good job like this?
She could only cling tightly to Daniel, exploiting his feelings.

Seeing Daniel’s deeply infatuated look towards Chloe back then, I thought I’d soon receive news of their marriage. But I didn’t. They didn’t even go public.
Daniel reverted to his old, rigid profile picture.
He didn’t marry her.
He just kept her as a girlfriend, and didn’t even let her continue working at the company.
But perhaps my words that day had really gotten to Chloe.
She was a mistress who had successfully taken the main wife’s place, but even after succeeding,
she still couldn’t get over it in her heart. Whenever Daniel played on his phone, she suspected he was lirting with someone else. Whenever Daniel went to the restroom, she suspected he was deleting chat logs.
Even Daniel’s normal business dinners, she suspected he was out with a new female intern.
Once the seed of suspicion was planted, it sprouted in her heart constantly.
She started calling him incessantly, checking up on him, and becoming paranoid.
Plus, since Ben and others left, the company needed to recruit a new batch of people to fill the vacancies. Many of them were young, attractive women, just like Chloe had been. This gave Chloe an
mmense sense of crisis.
How could Chloe possibly stand it?
At the restaurant where I was having dinner with Mr. Davis, I personally witnessed their breakup.
It seemed to be a business dinner.
Daniel had brought his new technicians to visit a client. The intern team had both men and women. Chloe stood at the private room door, calling his phone frantically, demanding he come out.
“Why did you hire her? I saw it! You were blocking drinks for her at the table!”
“Are you falling for her too?”
“You have to fire her immediately!”

Daniel pinched his temples, his face full of exhaustion:
“Chloe, I don’t know what you’re being so unreasonable about. I’m the boss, and I’m a man. At a business dinner, I always have to take extra care of the female employees I bring along.”
“I’m not falling for her. We’re just boss and employee!”
“Fire her? Fire who? This is the fifth female intern you’ve suspected this month, please. Can you just
calm down?”
Chloe was not at all appeased by Daniel’s words.
Instead, she became even more hysterical.
She looked at Daniel, her beautiful eyes no longer showing love and adoration, but intense suspicion
and resentment.
“Just boss and employee? That’s crap! I was your intern once, too!”
“You’re still protecting her now, speaking up for her.”‘
“I think you *have* fallen for her. I don’t care, you have to fire her!”
