Chapter 165
The sound of Gabriel’s laughter had barely faded when his phone vibrated on his desk.
When he saw that it was from his security team, it made his smirk falter.
If they were calling, then it wasn’t for something good and so, without wasting time, he grabbed his phone and picked up the call.
“What is it?” He probed, his voice impatient.
Sir, William Garcia just passed the gates. He’s on his way to see you.” The voice on the other end was urgent.”
Gabriel stiffened when he heard the name. William Garcia?!
A rush of shock and annoyance surged through him.
What the hell was that fucker doing here? William Garcia never visited him unless it was for blood
“What happened!” Jeremy asked when he saw the annoyed look on Gabriel’s face.
“Antonio’s father is here,” Gabriel responded.
Across from him, Jeremy’s face immediately paled, his cocky demeanor vanishing in an instant.
The last thing he needed was for William Garcia to find him here,
He didn’t know exactly what William did to his father to make him afraid but he could break his father, then there was no telling what he would do to him if he found him there.
“Shit,” Jeremy hissed under his breath, his hands rightening on the armrests of his chair.
Gabriel, however, was already moving. He shoved his drink aside, the glass clinking loudly against the desk, and stood. “Stay here,” he ordered Jeremy, who didn’t need to be told twice.
Without waiting for a response, Gabriel strode out of the room, his mind racing.
By the time he stepped outside of the mansion, William was already waiting.
The old man stood against the sleek black car parked in Gabriel’s circular driveway, one hand resting on the hood like he had all the time in the world.
His posture was deceptively relaxed as though his empire wasn’t crumbling and his son wasn’t in prison Willam’s sharp eyes watched every move Gabriel made.
It was one of the things that annoyed Gabriel. The cockiness of William and it was clear who Antonio had inherited it from.
Gabriel had dealt with dangerous men before. But William Garcia? He was something else entirely.
Still, Gabriel refused to be rattled. He wasn’t a small player in the game.
He forced a smirk, walking toward him with practiced ease. “To what do I owe this unexpected pleasure?”
William lifted his head slightly, a smile curling on his lips. “Cabriel” His voice was smooth, almost friendly. “You’re looking well.”
Gabriel’s
‘s eyes narrowed. The bastard was playing polite. That alone was enough to put him on edge but then again, William was always polite, hiding his real emotions.
William’s gaze flickered over him, assessing, calculating. Then, in a voice far too casual, he said, “Well played, my friend.
Gabriel squinted his eyes at William as though the latter had lost his mind. “Excuse me?”
William chuckled, shaking his head. “Don’t bother denying it. We both know you had a hand in Antonio’s arrest and the fire, and the money laundering case against my company
“Accusations like that can be dangerous, William, especially if you do not have proof.” Gabriel’s expression didn’t waver in the slightest.
William raised a brow. “Oh, I’m not accusing you. I’m commending you. A move like this takes planning, patience and I know when to praise someone.” He gave a slow nod. “Well played, indeed.”
Gabriel forced himself to stay calm. If William was here to threaten him, why was he playing this mocking game!
He then exhaled sharply, crossing his arms. “Believe what you want, but I had nothing to do with it”
William studied him for a long moment, then sighed. “Fine. I believe you and I’ll let the matter go.”
That was a big lie and the two men knew it
Suddenly, William’s expression darkened. Then let’s talk about something else. Another reason I came here is to give you a present.”
“A present?” Gabriel’s eyes narrowed.
William smiled but it didn’t reach his eyes. “Yes. You see, the case of you brother’s so–called ‘suicide‘ has just been reopened. The police are investigating again as all of a sudden, new evidence suggests that he was killed.”
Gabriel’s breath caught, but he didn’t react. However, his mind was immediately thrown into chaos.
He had spent a lot of money and resources burying that case. How the hell had William managed to dig it back up! And within such a short time?!
“Don’t like my first present” William tilted his head. “I have another one for you.”
Before Gabriel could respond. his phone rang again.
He glanced down and he frowned when he saw that it was his right hand man calling.
Why was he calling now?
“You should probably answer that. Who knows, it may have to do with my second present,” William urged Gabriel and the latter answered the call
The moment he picked up, a panicked voice came through the line. “Sir, it’s your son! He’s been arrested!”
“What?” Gabriel’s blood ran cold and from the corner of his eye, he saw an evil grin appear on Willam’s face,
“The police just picked him up for drug trafficking and attempted murder!”
Gabriel felt like the ground had just been ripped from beneath his feet. Drug trafficking? Attempted murder? His son? His fingers tightened around the phone as rage and disbelief surged through him. “How the hell did this happen?” But before his man could explain, William’s voice cut through the air.
“A son for a son.
Gabriel’s head snapped up.
William was still smirking. “However, unlike my son, your son is actually guilty.”
The realization hit Gabriel. This wasn’t a coincidence.
This was payback, and it had hit him hard as it was unexpected.
William then took a slow step forward, his voice calm yet merciless. “You took my son from me, Gabriel Did you really think I’d let you get away with it?”
Gabriel’s nostrils flared. “I didn.” He was unable to find his words, and he felt a sharp pain on the right side of his cheek, one that sent him to the blood.
His eyes snapped up to see William hovering over him and Gabriel’s eyes widened upon the realization that he had been
punched.
Gabriel’s guards immediately pointed their guns at William, rushing to their boss‘ defence, but the latter had come prepared as his own men also swung into action.
“How dare you?!” Gabriel yelled as he moved to retaliate with a punch of his own.
However, William caught his hand and landed another punch which sent him back to the ground and this time, Gabriel was sure he tasted blood in
his mouth.
eve as he told him his next words.
“Those two punches were for my son and my daughter. And this is only the beginning.”
He then squatted, making sure he was on Gabriel’s level so he could look him in the eye as
“Next, I’m coming for your company,” he swore, his voice dropping to a whisper.
Gabriel’s heart pounded and he gritted his teeth.
“By the time I’m finished with you,”
William continued, his smile widening, “You’ll wish you had never messed with my family”
his car.
Without another word, he turned and climbed into
The engine roared to life, and before Gabriel could even begin to form a response, William was gone, vanishing like a ghost.
Gabriel stayed frozen, his grip and he clenched his fists to the point where his knuckles turned white.
Then, suddenly, the rage exploded out of him.
“FUCK!” His scream echoed through the air as he spun on his heel, immediately dialing another number.
“Get me everything on my son’s case, now and get the fucking lawyer on the phone.”
His mind raced, his chest heaving.
William Garcia thought this was over?
No.
This was war, and it was one he would win.
