Chapter 16
Alessia Guiman.
I climb into bed, forcing myself to sleep.
mind shifted back to the previous hour and I was still at a loss for words.

This is everything I hate about living dangerous lives. There are always dangerous consequences. How do they even sleep peacefully at night? Something is wrong and it makes my stomach churn slightly.
I knew he was a dangerous guy, hell, the first time I saw him, he shot someone point–blank in front of me but I’d never seen Leonardo that angry
Angry veins were sticking out of his neck and his jaw has been tight ever since he picked up that call.
Russo had held onto my shoulders as a sign of comfort. “The driver, Gabriel is on the way, okay? When you get home, everything is going to be locked and secured. There will be more than enough security guards. Stay inside.”
His words had succeeded in instilling more fear in me.
“Is someone coming after me?”
“Of course not.” He recoils. “Why would you even ask that? It’s just for precautions. Text me when you’re home.”
Just then, a black BMW drove straight towards me. “Get in.” Russo points to the black BMW. I’ll see you later.”
Leonardo didn’t even spare me a glance as I made my way into the car.
One minute he’s sweet to me and the next he’s…… this? I got to the house and was quickly ushered inside by multiple guards and told to stay in my room.
My fingers quickly punched out a text to Russo but of course, he doesn’t reply. Situations like this always make me feel sick. I’ve been locked in my room back home by my father for my safety plenty of times.
It’s not knowing that gives me the fear, not knowing what’s going on and I’ve had years of scenarios like this. Ones that leave me with nightmares.
Sometimes, I don’t know how I ended up in a family like mine. I couldn’t be more different from all of them and now I have to suffer these consequences.
With these thoughts in my head, it was a wonder I got some sleep that night.
Leonardo De Luca
The last person I wanted to hear from today was Landon. I just didn’t want to hear from him, ever. Not with all the crap going on within my empire right now.
“What the fuck did he say?” Russo asked as we drove down to the location that Landon disclosed moments ago.
“He’s ransacked one of our operations, holding them hostage until we get there.”
“Shit!” Russo’s voice echoed through the car.
“This is fucking bad.”
“Landon isn’t the sort of person to leave a situation like this without a little bloodshed.” I grit out angrily, taking a sharp left.

Chapter 16
This was all Rizzo’s fault! Goddammit!
We still haven’t been able to recover the lost shipment or find out who Rizzo was working with
because he couldn’t have been working alone.
I couldn’t find the shipment which means I have to pay Landon back his money.
Not that I couldn’t afford to, I just hate it when things don’t go my way.

I gave him some money last week though, which is why I was surprised he’d do this. I punched the steering wheel hard in frustration and anger.
“Yeah, well, we’ve been a little distracted, don’t you think?” Russo said.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I spit in his direction, my knuckles turning white from the force of my clench.
“My sister.” was all he said.
In a way, he was right. If I hadn’t met her, if she wasn’t here, if she wasn’t carrying my child, this shit would’ve been sorted.
I refused to glance over at him because I already knew the look he had on his face. I suppressed a deep grumble but I didn’t have the mental capacity to have this conversation right now. We have bigger things to worry about right now than his sister.
We pull up outside the derelict warehouse, Russo lines the belt of his trousers with handguns and I do the same, hiding them behind my blazer. We gave each other one last glance before we stepped out and walked towards the warehouse.
Immediately we headed inside, and my eyes found three of my workers on their knees, guns to their heads. Fury almost blinds me but I grit my teeth and stare up at Landon who has his hands tucked behind him neatly, back straight, and chin high.
He’s tall, similar build to myself. Dark tousled hair and midnight eyes. He’s covered in scars but the most noticeable is the one across his lips that has long since healed but now left a thick white line across his mouth and chin.
“Leo!” He flashes me with a bright fake smile.
“So pleased for you guys to finally join us.”
“Release them.” I point to my men. “If you want it out with me, then have it out with me. This isn’t about them.”
Landon tilts his head slowly and walks towards me. I noticed Russo’s fingers twitching. He’s ready to reach for his gun at any given second but I realize that we’re outnumbered as it is, especially with our men on the ground and guns to their brains.
“But what’s the fun in that?”
I grit my teeth. “I gave you some money last week.” I spit out.
“I don’t recall you adding any interest that I asked for after delaying my shipment with barely any explanation.”
Greedy bastard!
He walks around us and my back/turns rigid.
“You think you can get away with having my shipment stolen and not think that you have to pay me back with interest?”
His dark cold laugh echoed around the room and his men laughed in response. My eye twitches but I don’t let him see how

much he’s currently irking me.
“We’ll get it to you.” Russo’s voice cuts over their pathetic laughter.

Landon stops laughing immediately and snaps his head in his direction. “What makes you think I can wait for however long you’re gonna get it to me?”
“Well, you would just have to wait, wouldn’t you?” I snarl at him.
He steps forward and I step closer. I watched as he reached for the gun in his belt and I did the same, Russo releasing his own at the same time. We point our guns at each other, taking off the safety and showing our determination.
Landon’s dark eyes zero in on mine. I lower my breathing. Having a gun pointed at my chest is child’s play for me. It doesn’t scare me one bit.
Although my heart pounds against my ribcage at the adrenaline coursing through my body.
“Shoot me and you’ll get nothing.” My voice is so dark with hatred that I almost don’t recognize it.
“Leo, Leo, Leo,” He shakes his head with a bitter smile. “You have no idea what game you’re trying to play here.”
I clenched my fists around my gun. “Don’t you fucking tell me I have no idea what I’m playing at? You know me. You fucking know when I say I’d get you your interest that I’d fucking get it to you so that this would never happen again.”
“You’re right.” He sighs sarcastically. “This won’t ever happen again. Not when your cartel is becoming fucking lousy. What? You got snakes that betray you now?” He’s laughing again. “I’m embarrassed for you, Leonardo.”
I was about to lunge forward when Russo grabbed my hand in warning. I had almost forgotten that we were outnumbered.
Crazy bastard!
“If we’re done here,” Russo quickly said before I snapped. He knows me too well. “Then there’s nothing more to it. We’ll get you your money soon.”
Landon tilts his head towards Russo and lowers his gun. He grins like a madman. “I like you.”
He glances from Russo to me before beckoning his men to lower their guns and they all headed out, with Landon sizing us up as he left.
Fanculo questa merda! I muttered under my breath. Thirty minutes later, we were in the car, driving home and the only thing that occupied my mind was to just have a good night’s sleep in bed with Alessia.
