Chapter 43
Leonardo De Luca
ad back and laughed coldh
I watched as Landon tilted his head back and laughed coldly..
“Not only did you cost me money, and took a stupid amount of time to pay me back, someone is busy running their mouths to my soldiers.”
I narrowed my eyes and quickly glanced at Russo. He shares the same dumbfounded but harsh expression as me. During this time, Landon decides to step closer to Alessia, sitting beside her, quiet and reserved.
Russo raises his gun and aims it at Landon, just in time for his men to draw their own at our heads
“Don’t you fucking come near her!” Russo bellows across the office.
Landon’s eyes remained on Alessia, sizing her up. He glances from Russo to Alessia and again. “Ahhh” He says, the pen finally dropping.
“Siblings, I see. Brotherly love. That’s cute.”
“I said step back
His eyes gravitate back to mine, lowering his gaze. “If you don’t get your empire in check, I guess I have to make some adjustments of my own. You’re distracted by her- presence.”
I growled. “Don’t you fucking threaten me?”
“You don’t call the shots!” He snaps, wins popping out of his neck.
“Not when you fucked up. Not when you owe me and I owe you nothing. I could shoot her dead right now!
Now it’s my turn to raise my gun, aiming it for the center of his forehead. “This has nothing to do with her”
His eyes light up as
The room dropped to a deadly silence, guns aimed at each other. Alessia still looked unfazed and I seriously wandered how she kept herself so calm. She was beginning to terrify me with how calm she looked. This was a far cry from the girl who was shaking with fear when I first met her.
Russo seems visibly shaken. He’s so angry but his gum is still. Ever so still.
as if this is a silly game of cat and mouse. “But she has everything to do with you guys. This could be fun, couldn’t it?”
“If a single thing happens,” Russo grumbles, “it’s game over. I promise you that.”
“We gave you the money.” I back him up.
Landon exhales a morbid sigh. “After weeks of demanding it like I was asking for some petry charity.”
“If you’ve come here to taunt us with bullshit, I suggest you leave.”
His eyes flare but he nods, then looks to Alessia again. “Nice to know you’re in great company.
darling
Alessia’s lips curled in disgust
Landon gives us a once–over before he exits my office, his men trailing behind him. I lowered my gun but my chest was still heaving as I stared at Russo. I grabbed my phone and ordered my workers downstairs to let me know when he’d left the building
Russo rushes over to Alessia asking if she’s okay but she bats it away like nothing even happened. I lowered my phone and Russo arranged for Alessia to be sent back to the house with a chauffeur and a slit ton of security.
Russo walked toward my desk and I studied him with hooded eyes. I told you we shouldn’t have brought her. Fuck! Why did I have to listen to such a stupid idea in the first place?!”
His eyes shoot me down. “Last time I checked, you have never acted like you care for her. The only reason the’s even under your roof is because of your freaking egof”
My jaw tightens at his words
What the fuck is he talking abouth

Chapter 43
“I’ll let that slide because you’re angry and rightly so, I mumbled. “This messes up more shit for us than you realize.”
We are silently at each other for a moment until Alessia clears her throat. I have no idea what’s going on in her mind but it made me wonder what’s got her so calm and collected, far from the writhing vixen on my bed last night.
If only Russo knew the things I do to his sister
Russo took her home and I lingered in the office for a couple more hours.
I despised Landon with so much passion and I knew this wasn’t going to be an easy ride, especially when he thinks he’s gotten a new target if anything happens between us
Alessia Guzman
Men like Landon are a different type of breed.
You have people like Leonardo, Russo, and Anthonio who you know are deadly but they at least have some normalcy inside them. Landon is a man crafted by the devil.
The look in his dark misty eyes as he studied me, taking his time to flick over every inch of my face, drinking down every little detail until t was nothing to inspect.
there
It was like he was trying to get into my mind and break down those walls but if I learned anything from living with Leonardo, it’s never to show emotion
Landon didn’t necessarily scare me, probably because I knew Leonardo and Russo would never let anything happen to me but his gaze, the tone of his voice, and even the way he walked into the room, made me feel uncomfortable and I realized that Leonardo had a lot of history with this guy.
When we got home, Russo was on the phone, presumably with Leonardo. He’s stressing but 1 keep quiet because I know the last thing he needs is me piping up with some opinion.
This wasn’t Russo’s fault. He must’ve been listening in the many times I kept whining about how lonely I was. It’s just unfortunate this had to happen on the day he decided to show me around.
I sit by the kitchen as Guila makes me a lare hinch, I just needed a moment to sit down and take a breather.
Russo exits his call a few moments later, just as Guila places a chicken salad in front of me. I grab my fork and begin to push around the green and purple lettuce leaves, then the chicken until I decide to pierce it
“AL” he sits opposite me, clasping his hands together. “I need you to listen to me.”
My eyes are focused on him. “I’m listening.”
“We’re going to need you to carry a gun at all times” I flexed a brow. “A gun? At all
He nods without hesiting. “Ar all times. You’ll need one in your room, one with you when you leave the house, even when you’re with us. This shit is serious, Alessia, Landen isn’t a nice person. He likes to play, he likes to get revenge and right now, we’re not exactly his favorite people. You need to carry a gun with you, for your safery.”
I slowly
raised the fork to my lips and took a bite. “Okay”
It may be hard for me to admit but he made a lot of sense. I ran away from home to get away from the dangerous life of the underworld but I’m slowly beginning to realize that there’s just no escaping my fate.
Russo exhales a sigh of relief. “I know you have a good aim with a gun, I trained you well afterall.” He beamed “But we’ll have to practice more on latch safety and the ammunition.”
“Okay.”
He blinked once, then twice. “Are you okay!”
I took another fork full of food in my mouth. I realized I was starving after all that adrenaline had dard down.
“Al,” He leaned over and grabbed my hand, I looked up at him and he had a worried expression on his face.
Russo wasn’t always this protective or he didn’t normally show it but now, I’m beginning to love this protective aura about him,
“You don’t have to lie to me if you’re not.” My shoulders dropped slightly.

“Why are we still here?” I asked.
“Oh not this again, Alessia. You know damn well why we’re here”
“Yes. I might know why I’m here but why are you?”
“Listen, Al, I know you think that Leonardo is such an asshole and he can be sometimes but I’ve come to respect him. He’s a really good guy if you just get to know him”
Why does he sound like he was trying to play matchmaker?
He ran a hand down his face when I didn’t say anything. “You know I won’t ever let anything happen to you. I might not have shown that I cared for you before but I’m ready to show it now.”
Holy crap!
Who are you and what have you done with my stone–faced brother?
Russo stared at me for a few seconds then he cracked a small laugh. That was when I realized I said that out loud.
I laughed as I finished up my salad in silence. Russo doesn’t leave and I don’t mind. I quite liked the company.
“So what happens now? Am I back to bring a prisoner?”
“You were never a prisoner. Al.“I rolled my eyes.
“But we can train together. Maybe it would be a good idea to get you into some self–defense classes. We could train you up on using knives and other weapons when guns aren’t available.”
“Wer” “Leonardo too.”
I scod at his words. “Are you joking? I don’t think Leo has the time for that” I said, in protest
“He already said he would. On the phone.”
-What
“Leonardo’s a good fighter. He’s also a good teacher. I’ve learned some good tricks from him”
“So you can just teach me…“I trail offi
Russo raises his head slowly to the ceiling and smiles. “Yes, I can train you too but we’re going to be busy. One of us needs to be working and if we train you at different times, we’d cover more ground that way. And you know Anthonio doesn’t live around here.”
“I’m sure Isabella would be interested in some classes too.”
All these in an attempt to just not be alone with Leol I don’t think I can control myself around him anymore.
Russo’s lips curled into a smile at the mention of Isabella’s name. “She has enough self–defense classes” He said tauntingly. “Eww!” I shouted, taking my plate to the washer.
Russo burst out laughing.
