Chapter 46
Alessia Guzman
My training sessions with Leonardo since have been tame. A part of me know it’s only a matter of time before something forces as to clash again But something tells me that in will be worth it to have a taste of him again.
Leonardo and Russo had been out all night, dealing with business as usual
an and
For some reason, I can’t sleep. I’ve tossed and turned so often that the duvet is half on the floor and the fitted sheet is no longer fitted. I groan slam my hand down on the mattress, staring at the ceiling
I turned my head to glance at my phone. It’s twenty minutes past twelve and I should be asleep considering I woke up at the crack of dawn this morning for absolutely no reason.
I don’t know why I can’t sleep. I trained with Russo and watched a couple of movies. I ever went for a run around the house and I fucking hate running. I should be exhausted and yet, my mind decides that it wants to wander
When I glanced out the window, I spotted the trees in the distance blowing gently. I could do it with some fresh air. I swiped my legs off the bed and latched onto my night robe. Maybe if I catch a cold, it will make me want to snuggle up in bed and eventually fall asleep.
I leave the room and head downstairs. All the lights are off but I can see the luminous moon shine through the windows on the patio, overlooking the lake
My fingers twist the key that is sitting in the lock. I take one step outside, my bare foot against the chill of the oak wood. I walked towards the banister and tugged the sleeves of my night robe down my palms.
When I glance across the still lake, the darkness swarms it completely. Something about the darkness makes me feel slightly ominous but 1. remember that I’m safe bere. I’ve slowly come to that realization
Even without Russo or Leonardo, I’m safe here. I sucked in a breath and allowed the chilly air to whip the bare skin of my legs and chest. They should be home soon. They wouldn’t be out so late, especially with everything that’s been going on with Landon right now.
The wind begins to pick up, rustling against my ears but I don’t mind it. I find it quite relaxing weirdly. I love listening to nature’s call. It gives me hope that I’ll get the chance to explore the world and see parts of it that I’ve always dreamt of.
When harsh goosebumps begin to appear on my skin, I know it’s time to go back to bed. If I don’t sleep now, I never will
I turn back to walk towards the patio door and frown. I’m pretty sure I shut it to stop the cold air from seeping into the house but now, it’s slightly ajar. My head tilts and I tell myself that I must’ve been exhausted because I honestly can’t remember if I did shut the door or not.
I walked inside the house and was relieved when my feet hit the heated floors. I turned and locked the patio doors, using the key. I take one glance at the clock and sigh. It’s getting so damn late!
As I walk through the kitchen and towards the stairs, the rustling sound of someone charging towards me startles me from behind. I turned to the sound quickly, my heartbeat accelerating at the invasion. Suddenly, Tm tackled to the ground aggressively. I scream out loudly as my back hits the marble floor.
1 glanced up to find a man with a black face mask covering his mouth and nose. He’s also wearing a dark cap and a hoodie to mask his identity. His hands are trying their hardest to pin down my wriggling limbs. But I sure as hell won’t give into this. This is what they’ve been training me for.
CUT Gun Gun! Fuck!
I forgot to grab my gun with me before going out to the patio.
I cursed myself and raised my knee to belt him in the ribs, he released his grip for a split second and I slipped out from underneath him. My eyes darted to the kitchen.
Russo p
put a gun in there. He put a
ta gun there.
As I run towards the kitchen drawers, the intruder grabs my leg and yanks me backward. 1 fell at an awkward angle and smacked my face on the floor. Blood poured into my mouth and I could taste the metallic tang-
“Get Off Me” I growl as I kick at his hand.
He grabs my shoulders and forces me backward. I watched as he leaned forward to grab my neck and I screamed in his face, fighting and thrashing against his hold. Instead of grabbing my neck, he grips my night robe and forces a long tear through the middle.

I exhale a low grunt as I widen my mouth, latching onto my arm as he reaches for my neck again, fingers brushing the delicate necklace I had on. I quickly clamp down on his flesh with my teeth,
up
Ayelp escapes his lips and he pulls back and I take the opportunity to force my legs into his balls. He whined at the sensation and I stood. with shaky legs. I have to get the gan now before he slits my throat
I could hear his harsh breathing behind me and suddenly, he lunged forward and wrapped his finger into my hair, tugging me backward. A painful screech escapes my lips and I begin to panic.
Anything I need to use anything
“Stupid bitch!” He grumbles. “You’re going to pay for that” Panic washed through me.
Oh God! Oh God, he’s going to kill me.
Before I knew it, he slammed my ribs into the counter. I winced at the pain and gritted my teeth. He does it again and again until I’m sure I hear one of the bones crack Tears are slipping from my eyes. He’s way stronger than I am, his grip is like an iron fist.
1 breathed out heavily through my nose and glanced at the counter. My fingers reached across the marble top, grabbing onto the glass that I had left there earlier, and without a second thought, I nwung it behind me, the glass shattering across his face.
Blood coats my hand as some of the glass pierces my skin but the drops me and I pant desperately. I sprint forward, even though it feels like I have been run over by a thousand bulldozers. My body was running on adrenaline at this point
My eyes flicked towards the drawers.
Which one was it? Alessia, Think! I screamed at myself because this might be my last day on the fucking plancit
He groans from beside me, his footsteps getting closer. 1 lurched forward and pulled back the first drawer and my body relaxed with a sigh of relief as I stared at the gun laying at the bottom. I quickly retrieved the gun, took it off safety mode, and turned around with it in my hands.
This time he’s running at me, glass splintered across his face. His eyeball is bleeding and blood is smeared all over his skin. He’s shaking when he notices the gun and I don’t even think about it or I might just end up dead.
Never wait. Always shoot. Russo told me that the other day.
I press on the trigger once and then twice. The bullets fly through the air and then pierce him in the chest and the other in the neck. He doesn’t
even have time to register what’s happening before he clutches his hand to his neck, already oozing out blood.
Dark crimson blood begins to seep out of his mouth. His knees buckle and he hits the floor with a thud, his blood quickly pouring across the floor to my feel
I stare down at him in shock, the gun still between my shaky hands. I can’t move.
My eyes roamed over the body on the ground. His face mask is now beside his neck. I feel my ankles sway at the sight of him. I’m trembling now.
He looked like he couldn’t be a day over eighteent
He’s just a child!
And now he’s dead! He’s dead because I killed him!
A small whimper escapes from my chest Blood roars in my ears.
I don’t even notice the door swing open from across the room. I’m still staring down at the face on the ground. Blood everywhere.
I wanted to scream with tears but I was too frustrated to cry. People begin to plier in but I don’t look to see who they are. Whoever it was, they came a bit late.
“Alcuia.”
The sound of my name sounded like it was coming from miles away, I was a mess.
