Chapter 69
Leonardo De Luca
Alessia stood up from the desk on shaky legs pulled down her thirt and grabbed her leggings from the floor. She glances up through her thick lashes and scowls at me.
“Never fucking do that again.”
I’m sure she was on the pill as we’ve been having sex lately but that wasn’t a conversation that we’ve had. So what was she talking about? I’m sure she enjoyed the sex so that couldn’t possibly be it.
“Never do what?” I asked
Russo. Whew!
She frowned at me, her face in a scowl. I immediately knew that he was referring to R “And what would you do if I did?” I grasp her chin between my thumb and my finger.
She straightens her spine. “Do you know how fucking embarrassing it is to talk to my brother while you’re fucking me?”
I flex a brow in her direction. “I would never give up a chance to remind anyone that you’re mine, anymore. All mine”
Alessia’s brows bunched together at my words “I’m being serious
“So am 1
Alessia steps away a and shakes her head. “I’m going to take a shower.”
She doesn’t take her laptop and notepad with her. She simply leaves and I find myself still intoxicated by the smell of her.
Alessia had been gone for at least forty minutes and her prolonged absence was beginning to confuse me. I know women take a long time in the shower but even I know that forty minutes is too much
I find myself glancing at the clock far too many times. Her laptop is still burning a hole in the chair so I have no idea what she’s doing. After a few moments, I plucked myself up from my desk, exited my office, and headed straight for her bedroom.
My curiosity was getting the better of me. Shamelessly.
Her bedroom door is slightly opened and I glanced inside to find Alessia fully clothed and sitting on the edge of her bed with her phone between her hands, I watched as her eyes flicked across the screen, reading a text.
She isn’t happy. Her brows are pinched together and her eyes are straining. Even her shoulders seem tense from this angle.
I know I shouldn’t be invading her privacy right now but I can’t seem to stay away. My hand presses on her bedroom door and it creaks open. I pressed my shoulders on the door’s hinges and leaned. She knows I’m here but she doesn’t look up. She doesn’t even tell me to leave.
“Everything okay?” I asked as I folded my arms across my chest and studied her expression once more.
Alessia lets out a sigh and then closes her eyes fo
for a moment. “Yeah.” She
rasps. “All good.”
We both know she’s lying but instead of saying that out loud, 1 flicked my eyes down to her phone and twisted my head.
“Who’s that?” I asked

Chapter 69
And don’t you say Damien or this time, he wouldn’t be getting off with just a warning.
She has a look of uncertainty on her face like she doesn’t know if she wants to tell me. Who could it be that’s gotten her so worked up like this!
Alessia drags her dark eyes to mine and I wait for a response eagerly. I’m not going to force her or pressure her into telling me anything even though that’s exactly what I want to do right now.
She sighs again and shrugs. “My dad.” She admits.
Oh that explains it.
I’ve met the old guy only a few times but the time I’d never forget was when he waltzed up to my office demanding I take his daughter as payment for my gang’s protection. I didn’t know it then but he had just handed me the best gift I could ever
wish for.
I didn’t know much about their family but I know enough to figure out that her relationship with her father is almost non-
existent.
“know Alessia hasn’t forgiven him for treating her like common property as she so referred to it
I get that she wants a normal life. And I feel bad because as much as she prays for a normal life with peace, she’ll never get it. But I don’t want to be the one to break it to her.
“What did he say?”
Alessia’s mouth twists as she glances at her phone again but then he locks it and turns the phone over. When she didn’t respond immediately. I pushed off the door and perched beside her on the bed.
Our shoulders brushed but neither one of us moved away. I stay like this with her just waiting for when she feels like talking -if she wants to say anything at all.
“He just wants to apologize.” Her voice deflates as she speaks. “For the way he treated me. For practically pushed me out of the house because he was the reason I ran away. I just don’t think I’ll be able to forgive him. And to think he’s still involved in the crime business.”
I nod and stare at the wall ahead. “It seems he’s passionate about it.”
Alessia sports and shakes her head. “He might be passionate but he’s already getting old and making mistakes, one of which made him come running to you for protection and offering his only daughter as payment.”
Alessia turns to me with sorrow in her eyes. “My mother died when I was very young. He raised three children in a dangerous
environment. Fair enough that neither of us is dead but there’ve been some very close calls for Russo and Anthonio, I don’t want that kind of life for my child.” She suddenly burst into thick sobs and I know she was crying for a different issue entirely.
I felt her pain because I lost a child too.
“I understand,” I said after a few seconds as I stretched my hand over her shoulder to comfort her. “My father always pushed me to do the things he did so I could grow up and he just like him.”
“I remember you telling me about your first kill” She says softly wiping her eyes and I glanced down at those pink lips.
our what he made you do at such a young age.”
1 drew in a breaths slowly, contemplating if I was ready to open up to her completely.
