Chapter 44
Damien
“No,” I say, turning back without giving her a second glance as I walk to the door.
I hear her gasp of surprise before she quickly runs after me. She stands in my way, her hand stretched out as she pants, trying to catch her breath.
My eyes narrow into a deadly glare at her, turning silver for a moment as I struggle to control my anger. The sheer disrespect and audacity of this woman to block an Alpha!
“Kill her,” Cairos growls, his voice low and predatory. “She’s the one who framed our mate. You can’t
‘t kill Lancia
| Lucian, but you can definitely kill her.”
“Oh, calm down, Cairos. I’m already struggling to control my anger, and here you are, adding fuel to the fire. Don’t forget about the peace treaty. You want me to kill someone who isn’t worth it and risk the wrath of the Moon Goddess! Think about what you’re asking”
“Hmph, you’re such a coward, Cairos mutters with a huff, but falls silent afterward.
1 shift my attention to the woman- -what was her name again? Oh, right, Liora—standing before me, her hand dramatically pressed to her chest as though she’d just run miles, when it was really just a few steps.
“Out of the way.” I hiss, my voice cold. She freezes at the sound of it, looking up at me with wide eyes. When she doesn’t move, I take a deep breath, attempting to calm my nerves before walking past her.
But before I can get far, she grabs my hand, stopping me in my tracks. I frown, irritation flaring. Without hesitation, I yank her toward me. My hand shoots out, wrapping tightly around her neck, and in the blink of an eye, I slam her hard against the wall beside me.
Her eyes widen in horror, and her hands desperately reach for my arm, trying to pry it off her neck. But it’s useless–especially when I have no intention of letting go.
“Disrespectful,” I growl, my voice low and menacing. “You think you can block my path and touch me without consequence?”
“Do you not fear the person before you?!” I hiss, tightening my grip around her neck, pulling her closer. “Or do you think I’m Lucian, that I won’t end you for your mistakes?”
Her breath is shallow, desperation flickering in her eyes as she gasps for air. “I–I have something to tell you,” she stammers, her voice barely a whisper
But I have no intention of listening to
her nonsense–at least not until the next words leave her mouth
“It’s about Elara. I have to tell you something important about her.”
I freeze for a moment, my grip slightly loosening as I tilt my head, studying her with a frown. My hand relaxes just enough, though I don’t release her entirely.
Her eyes widen in relief at the slight shift, and she quickly takes a shaky breath before speaking again, almost quickly, in case I change my mind.
“It’s about Elara. I heard she’s your mate. You can’t have her as your mate-
nate–she’s very dangerous.”
The corner of my lips tilts up into a smirk as I hear her words, and a humorless scoff escapes
my mouth.
“Tell me, “I begin, my voice dripping with mild amusement, “why do you think she’s dangerous? Isn’t she your sister! Wat then again, why am I even asking You stole her man and framed her. I’m sure you wouldn’t think of her as your sister anymore.”
Her eyes narrow into a glare, and she hisses through her teeth, all pretense of calm crumbling away as she spits her words at me.
ever stole her man–Lucian belonged to me in the first place!”
“She’s not my sister! How can that illegitimate idiot be my sister? I never
“Oh really” Lcouldn’t hold back a laugh, the absurdity of her words almost too much to bear. How blind is Lucian if he can’t see the truth right in front of him? If someone like her was able to fool him, then he must be an even bigger idiot than I thought. From what I heard, you ran away from your own wedding, and Elara had to step in and marry Lucian in your place. Su, please, enlighten me–low the hell did you think he belonged in you” I mury not like the idiot, but I launestly can’t fathom how lie manages to look at someone as pathetic as you without feeling disgusted”
Her face turns red, and she chokes almost instantly, but not because my hand is wrapped around her neck–it’s because of my harsh words.
“Y–you.” she Hammers, and I sigh, fighting the urge to roll my eyes.
This is just a waste of time–a waste of time when I could be with my beautiful Elara, basking in the feisty
Tristy glare
te she greets me with. There’s

something more important I need to do when I get back anyway.
“You don’t know Elara like you think you do her voice snaps me out of my thoughts, but this time I actually roll my eyes. Repeating the same nonsense over and over again is doing nothing but testing my patience.
I’m about to pull away and leave when her next words stop me.
“That stupid girl is an idiot! She doesn’t deserve to be your Luna, and she doesn’t deserve anything good. Trust me when I say you should reject her before she ruins you! That wolfless idiot should have died-”
Fuck the treaty.
Something inside me snaps, and I tighten my hand around her neck, cutting off her air supply. She must have guessed that I’m beyond reasoning now because the panic in her eyes is unmistakable.
“Never” 1 growl through clenched teeth. “Speak of her that way again, or else you will join the last fool who tried–six feet under
Her eyes widen, her hands scrabbling at mine in a frantic attempt to free herself, but she’s powerless. Her breath comes in short, desperate gasps as 1 hold her firmly in place.
“You’re a fool,” my lips stretch in a twisted smile “If you think for one second you can talk about Elara like that without facing the consequences.”
Her face turns purple as I keep her suspended against the wall
“I should just end you right here and now,” I hiss, my grip tightening just enough to make her realize how close she is to crossing a line that can’t be uncrossed.
But I hold back. Barely.
“And maybe I will,” I sneer, my fingers twitching, ready to end this pathetic excuse for a woman. Before I can break her neck with just a flick of my hand, a deep, low voice voice reaches from behind, making me stop in my tracks.
“No, you won’t, Damien. Let her go
I turn my head slowly, my grip still firm, to see Lucian standing in the doorway of his study. His hands are tucked casually into his pockets as he stares at the scene before him coldly.
Ah, way to spoil my fun.
