Chapter 49
Elara
Lucian?
I can’t seem to le
seem to tear my eyes away from the man standing before me. Even when I try to force myself to look away, my gaze remains locked on
Lucian stands there, effortlessly commanding
attention in a perfectly tailored Armani tuxedo. The suit fits him like a glove, sculpting his frame in a way that speaks volumes. His white button–up shirt gleams beneath the sleek jacket, and everything about him radiates two things–wealth and power.
If Lucian embodies these qualities, then Damien is the complete opposite. From what I’ve noticed, he’s not the kind of man who dresses to impress, unlike Lucian. Damien often wears buggy clothes, carrying an air of casual indifference, as if he doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone.
So seeing Lucian standing confidently in the middle of the road brings out the old me–the timid version who shrinks away from his intense stare
“Madam, stay in the car, alright? Do not get out, and if anything bad happens, drive away without hesitation,” William says, but I can’t seem to focus on his words.
My heart pounds against my chest as William steps out of the car, I watch as he approaches Lucian, taking note of his surroundings. Standing behind Lucian is Elijah, Lucian’s beta. He stands behind Lucian, his expression blank as he observes William with quier vigilance.
I watch as the corner of Lucian’s lips lifts into an amused smirk while William bows and speaks to him. Though their conversation is out of earshot, the way Lucian’s expression shifts tells me that whatever William said has clearly amused him.
My breath catches in my throat as Lucian’s gaze shifts toward me, his eyes narrowing slightly as he tilts his head in my direction. He’s watching me, and the intensity of his gaze makes my heart beat faster. Damn it. I know that look all too well, I haven’t spent five years by his side for nothing.
He wants me out of the car, or else he’s going to do something to Willian,
Of course, it’s my luck that on my second day at work, I’m going to be late. One man fucks and marks me while the other blocks my path. Great.- Just great.
I curse under my breath, then open the car door and step out. Lucian’s expression brightens almost instantly, his genuine smile similar to that day spreads across his face, sending a shiver down my spine. Lucian is indeed breathtaking, but seeing him smile like that–given his reputation— makes me shudder
“Madam, it’s not safe. You need to p

go–William starts when he sees me, but I quickly shake my head, cutting him off.
Lucian chuckles lightly, a teasing tone in his voice as he addresses me. “Elara, I’ve been waiting for hours to talk to you. Glad you finally found it in your heart to come to me
I roll my eyes at his words, and his smile only widens in response
my eyes at him while maintaining my distance,
“What do you think you’re doing here, Lucian? Why are you blocking my path?” I ask, narrowing my eyes at trying my best to shoot daggers at him with my stare. He merely shrugs
“I just wanted to see you. Didn’t I tell you I’d be seeing you soon! But, if I’m not mistaken, your expression suggests you don’t exactly want to see me” he says, taking a step closer,
“That’s because I don’t want to se
to see you 1 never want to see you, Lucian. Why can’t you get that?” I snap, stepping back further.
I catch the worried look on William’s face, and I notice Elijah’s mouth hanging open in shock, probably stunned by my audacity to speak to Lucian
like this
Lucian chuckles deeply, his piercing eyes gleaming with mischief, a challenge in them, as if he finds my response entertaining. It’s like he’s trying to figure me out with his intense gaze, testing my limits.
Like I said, the old, timid me would’ve flinched, would’ve scurried away from his gaze, but I’m not that version of myself anymore. I won’t do that.
“What do you want, Lucian? I’m quite busy,” I hiss through clenched teeth, hating the way my body reacts to his gaze. It’s like some sort of spell. pulling me toward him, and for the first time in the years we spent together, this feeling is different. It’s not the familiar tension I used to share with him. No, this time, it’s similar to the mate bond I share with Damien

Chapter 49
“You, I want you,” he replies without missing a beat. I open my mouth to call him crazy, but he speaks before I can.
“Or if that’s too much, then give me another five minutes of your time.
“No, you’re crazy, I won’t do it” I roll my eyes, still calling him crazy. Does he think I’ll just come to him whenever he calls, like I’m some sort of dog! I won’t do it. No matter what, I won’t
“Is that so!” He takes a step closer, his voice low and dangerous. “You won’t even spare me five minutes of your time?” Before I can react, his hand shoots out and grips my arm, pulling me toward him.
I gasp, my body hitting his chest with a soft thud. My eyes widen as I meet his, and my heart skips a beat. He’s dangerously close- -our lips barely inches apart. Fuck,
“Let go of her!” William shouts, but before he can reach us, Elijah steps in, blocking his path with swift precision.
Everything freezes in that moment. The world blurs around us, and all I ca
can see is Lucian. His presence consumes me, and I inhale sharply as his hands sneak around my waist, pulling me closer. He leans in, and I close my eyes, unable to look any longer. My body betrays me, warmth spreading between my legs despite myself.
“W–what are you doing?” My voice trembles as I force my eyes open, desperate to find some strength, but it breaks anyway.
Lucian’s lips curl into a slow smirk as he draws closer. “What do you think I’m doing, Elara?” His hot breath dances across my lips, sending a shiver down my spine. “I’m asking for just five minutes of your time. Is that too much to give me?”
He pauses, his eyes darkening dangerously. “Or.. do I need to kill this man to make you come with me!”
