Chapter 67
You’re in a de facto marriage, you already have a kid with someone else–so why the hell are you still chasing after me?”
I smirked, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “Dexter, you’re a man at least–don’t pretend to be something you’re not.”
His eyes widened, and he couldn’t find the words
I threw the divorce papers down in front of him. “Take a good look. Sign it, and we’ll wrap this up quickly. Otherwise, we’ll go to court.
I stood up, ready to leave, but then glanced back with a smile. “By the way, make sure to move out of my house soon. I’ll give you three days. After that, I’ll come by to collect the property.”
Dexter stared at me, grinding his teeth,
I left with my bodyguards, but he seemed completely stunned, still sitting there in the city hall, lost in thought.
Once I was in the car, I pulled out my phone, my hands trembling as I opened an app.
I had secretly planted a tiny listening device in the stack of divorce papers I’d left with him. Now, with the app open, I could hear everything Dexter was saying.
The device was so small it was almost invisible, and it had cost me quite a bit, but it was worth it. It even had a recording. function. Soon enough, I could hear Dexter talking on the phone.
You Clearly, what I’d said had hit him hard. His voice was low, but the anger was unmistakable. “So that’s how she found out? told her, didn’t you? What the hell are you thinking? Our plan hasn’t even succeeded yet, and now-
“Where am I? Where do you think I am? Of course, I’m at the city hall, just like you wanted. Now Sylvia is going to divorce me! That damn museum slipped through our fingers–are you happy now?”
My heart raced as I listened, my grip tightening on the phone. I thought, ‘So it is true–they are after my family’s money.
From the start, Dexter had set his sights on the museum. It was a private family museum passed down through generations. Right now, the heirs were me and Clara.
On the surface, my family seemed ordinary. We lived comfortably–neither rich nor poor, just middle class. Both my parents were academics. We weren’t wealthy, but we had enough.
Clara and I had always been close, and we both knew about the museum. Its collection, if sold, would be worth a fortune.
We never thought about cashing in on those treasures; we just wanted to protect what our ancestors had left us. No one would have thought that my marriage would attract wolves hungry for it.
Dexter was still ranting, his voice rising. “What about my debts? My mom still has debts too! And… are you really going to let all that money slip away?”
I couldn’t listen anymore. Anger was boiling in my chest.
Just as I was about to drive off, something caught my eye. A woman, on the phone and walking briskly, was heading straight for the city hall. That was… Rhea.
In an instant. I got out of the car and followed her.

Chapter 67
Rhea was walking fast, clearly in a hurry, and didn’t notice me trailing behind her. Her high heels clicked loudly on the pavement as she headed toward Dexter’s floor. I ducked behind a corner and saw them meet
Rhea asked, “Where’s Sylvial”
Dexter snapped, furious. “How dare you ask? I don’t even know how you managed to send her so much stuff! You’re… disaster, always messing things up!”
Rhea started crying. “She stole you from me, and you blame me? All these years, I’ve suffered with you. We have a child together, and yet I don’t even have a title. Our son, Alton, is still considered a bastard Dexter, how could you do this to me?
I was stunned, thinking. ‘So Rhea is really Dexter’s mistress, and the mother of his son, Alton! And I completely unaware, have sent my precious son to spend an entire year with Dexter’s mistress!“
The realization hit me like a ton of bricks. I wanted to storm over and confront them both, but I gritted my teeth and held myself back, barely managing to suppress my rage–for now.
Dexter was trying to calm Rhea down now.
