Everyone turned to look at me. Adeline looked like she wanted to punch me.
“Fiona, are you deaf? Mr. Jack is talking to you! How can you sit there unmoving?”
The others stood up, hands placed obediently in front, like schoolchildren.
I took a sip of wine, smiling faintly. “Jack Zhou, it’s only been a year, and now you’re Mr. Jack?”
Hearing me call him by name, Adeline turned red with rage and started cursing me.
But she missed one thing. Someone like me shouldn’t know Mr. Jack’s real name, according to them.
Before I could respond, Mr. Jack, looking serious, rushed to me and saluted.
“Sister Fiona, what are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be with the Senior Advisor…”
I raised my hand, cutting him off. “Look where we are. Don’t talk about things you shouldn’t. Go back and copy the discipline manual a hundred
times!”
Faced with my reprimand, Jack Zhou nodded like a child admitting a mistake.
The onlookers were stunned.
“What’s going on? There’s definitely a story between these two.

“From the looks of it, Mr. Jack seems to be afraid of Fiona.”
“That can’t be right. With Fiona’s background, how could she know someone like him?”
As everyone speculated, a trembling Adeline mustered the courage to speak.
“Mr. Jack, what brings you here?”
Jack Zhou didn’t pay her any attention, standing straight behind me.
“I just happened to pass by and saw a car parked outside, so I came to check.”
Driven by curiosity, Adeline pressed, “Which car did you see? There are several parked for the reunion. Mine’s outside too.”
Before she could finish, Jack Zhou cut her off impatiently.
“Don’t flatter yourself. The person I’m looking for has nothing to do with you. I’m here for the owner of the Porsche.”
The room exploded!
Everyone knew whose car it was, but no one dared say it aloud.
They had all wronged me in the past, and I could see their expressions change from disdain to fear.
Even Adeline’s forehead was covered in sweat.
“It’s just a regular domestic car. Why all the fuss?” she questioned.
“What did you say?” Jack Zhou shouted in anger.
“You called that a lousy car?” He clearly considered it an unforgivable insult. “Do you know how important that car is…”
Before he could finish, I interrupted.
“Okay, Jack Zhou, can’t you control your mouth? Calm down!”
Though reluctant, Jack Zhou managed to suppress his temper. “But she insulted you… Shouldn’t she face some consequences?”
I shook my head with a smile. “No need. What’s meant to happen will happen.”
