He Took The Credit For My Achivement Chapter 37

Chapter 37

I let out a bitter laugh. I don’t need your money.”

She instantly calmed down, her tone turning a bit impatient. So what do you want?”

I said lightly, Shane wants to see you. Could you make some time to visit your own son?”

She sounded annoyed like she was afraid I’d cling to her. Why should I see him? I told you guys not to bother me unless it was important.”

I just said, Shane needs surgery, and the success rate is only fifty percent.”

She replied coldly, That’s none of my business.”

With that, she hung up

I stared at the darkening screen, feeling a chill in my heart

I really wondered if she was even our biological mother

There was no way that a mother could be this heartless

I dropped my head, and after a while, I picked up my phone again

I only had 65 thousand dollars in my account, and that wasn’t nearly enough for Shane’s treatment

If things got really bad, I’d have to borrow money from Ashton

It was going to be a tough night. I didn’t even remember what time I fell asleep. I just felt groggy when I woke up

The next morning, Ashton came to pick me up. I looked at my leg, which still made it hard for me to walk, and thought for a moment

Is something on your mind?Ashton asked

I said, Do you have time today?”

He looked at me curiously. I need to transfer Shane to another hospital this afternoon.”

With my leg in this condition, there was no way that I could handle the transfer on my own

Ashton was surprised at the news. Transfer? Why?”

I got in touch with an expert named Elliot. He said he would operate on Shane in a week.”

That’s great news!Ashton said happily. What’s the success rate?”

Fifty percent,I said with a smile. It’s not bad.”

Yeah.” Ashton comforted me. Fifty percent is still pretty good. Those experts usually downplay the odds. Oh, and let me know on the day of the surgery. If you’re short on money, you can borrow from me first.”

I nodded and said without hesitation, Thanks, Mr. Hopkins.”

He smiled and said, Don’t mention it. Let me know before we go this afternoon.”

I agreed, and for the first time in a while, I felt a bit more relaxed

I sat in the office for ten minutes when Tamara and Harlan came in. Harlan saw me and casually asked, Didn’t you say we were leaving together tus morning? Why didn’t you wait for me?”

I said coolly, I’m not interested in being a third wheel.”

Harlan paused like he wanted to say something, but then he just turned around and left

The whole day was pretty calm, except for Stella’s occasional snide remarks

After work, I sat in the break room and called Ashton

The call took a while to go through, and for some reason, I felt uneasy

Sure enough, my unease was confirmed. The person who answered wasn’t Ashton, but his dad, Fraser Hopkins

Fraser never really liked me. He thought I was like those women who got close to Ashton for his money, and he spoke to me coldly. Author’s going

on a blind date today. You’ll have to talk to someone else.”

I paused and said, Okay, sir.”

If even his phone was taken by his dad, you could tell how important this blind date was for Ashton

I lowered my eyes, feeling a bit lost. The next second, a familiar voice came from behind me. He asked sarcastically, What’s wrong? Your sugar daddy’s going on a date, and you’re feeling down?”

I looked up, and Harlan’s handsome face came into view
