Chapter 43
This time, I got into the backseat. Harlan glanced at me and clearly looked displeased.
1 figured he was ticked off ‘cause he couldn’t be with Tamara right now.
I didn’t bother with him. As long as he didn’t take his temper out on me, I didn’t care if he had a long face.
When I entered the office, Tamara was already there. Her eyes were red. She glanced at me and quickly lowered her head.
Stella hadn’t resigned yet. Seeing Tamara sad, she immediately flew into a rage. “Charlene, you’re really shameless! How could there be someone like you who steals other people’s boyfriends?”
Tamara quickly tugged at her. “Stella, stop it.”
She said comforting words, but she looked as if she had been wronged.
Stella snorted coldly and said, “Tamara, I know you’re kind–hearted, but you have to see if Charlene is worth it!”
Seeing the two of them acting in tandem, I glanced at them lazily. “I stole someone’s boyfriend?”
“Didn’t I wrong you?” Stella snorted coldly. “I thought you were so noble, but now it turns out you’re just a disgusting social climber who uses her body to get ahead!”
I looked at Stella and scanned her figure up and down. “With your body and looks, even if you tried to sleep your way up, no one would want you.”
Stella’s face immediately turned red. She was overweight and had always been insecure about her appearance. “Who are you to judge my looks?” she snapped.
I sneered and said, “Didn’t you start the personal attack?”
“I was just stating the facts,” she said, sticking out her neck.
“Where’s your evidence?” I secretly turned on my phone’s voice recorder. “You accuse me of stealing someone’s boyfriend. There must be evidence, right?”
Remaining calm, she said boldly. “What proof do you need? I saw you step out of Mr. Shannon’s ride with my own eyes!”
“So you have no evidence and are just spreading rumors on purpose?” I asked.
Stella seemed to feel something was off but couldn’t figure it out. She just argued with me. “Everyone in the company knows Mr. Shannon and Tamara are a couple. You’re butting in. Aren’t you a mistress?”
“So all of this is just your subjective assumption. There’s no concrete evidence to prove what I’ve done, right?” I asked calmly.
She became anxious and snapped, “What’s the argument here? I know your type. Do I need proof to label you a mistress?”
I got what I wanted and turned off the recorder. Then I said lightly, “Okay, I suggest you look for evidence.”
Stella was puzzled and asked, “What do you mean?”
I raised my phone and said, “It means I’m going to sue you.”
As soon as I said this, Stella’s face changed. She gritted her teeth and said, “Do you have to go that far?”
“Of course!” I nodded. “Your words have caused me great mental distress. I want you to compensate me for emotional damages.”
Hearing this, Stella was so angry that she was about to go crazy. Tamara also stopped pretending to be pitiful and looked up at me, really necessary, Charlene? Stella was just joking with you. She didn’t mean any harm.”
saying, “Is it
I said with a smile. “If she didn’t mean any harm, why did she keep calling me a mistress? Tamara, are you helping Stella speak because you instigated her?”
Tamara denied it repeatedly, “I didn’t….. I didn’t…..”.
Stella pulled her and said, “Tamara, show me the evidence. I wanna hear what Charlene has to say about this.
Tamara lowered her head, her gaze evasive. “I don’t have any evidence, Stella. Don’t be ridiculous.”
Hearing this, Stella realized what was going on and looked at Tamara in disbelief. “Are you kidding me? Didn’t you say Charlene stole Harlan from you?
