Chapter 60
Sandra and Morgan, along with the children, went to the hospital to examine Adam’s wound. The doctor gave him the medicine. Luckily, it was just a scratch, so the doctor only had to disinfect it and put on some ointment.}
Afterward, they treated the children to steak and fried chicken before heading back to the villa.
Adam who was still clung to Sandra and was unwilling to let her go, pleaded, “Mom, sleep with me tonight.“}
However, when she recalled the calmness in Regan’s eyes when she left, she started to panic. A sense of unease tugged her heart as she pried away Adam’s tightly gripped hand, took her key and rushed home.
When she was Adam injured and Anna cried hysterically today, she had lost control and slapped Regan. She hadn’t even given him a chance to explain. Now, regret crept into her heart.
She pushed open the door and called out anxiously, “Regan.“}
However, the only answer she got was the hollow echo of her own voice.
She then rushed upstairs and yanked open the wardrobe and all she saw was the empty hangers that swayed slightly in there. Sandra raised her gaze and looked around the room, her heart sank when she realized the wedding photo was gone.
She rushed into the bathroom. The toothbrush, the towel, the cup and the razor, everything had gone.
For the first time, fear gripped Sandra’s heart and this made her entire body tremble. With shaking fingers, she immediately dialed his number, but the only response was a cold mechanical female voice, “Sorry, the number you are trying to reach is currently in use.”
An hour later, Sandra sat on the couch. Her body stiffened with despair while staring blankly at the security footage on her phone and the divorce agreement. There wasn’t much to see because there were just a few simple lines on the divorce agreement.
Basically, Regan left her and he did not take anything.”
At that very moment, Sandra finally felt an overwhelming sense of panic. She curled up on the couch while hugging herself tightly.} The last time she had felt this helpless and afraid was twenty years ago. Back then, debt collectors had surrounded her home while yelling threats as they tried to take away their belongings. Her father was still in prison.
Every day, angry creditors slept in the company’s lobby. The front door was littered with rotten vegetables and eggs.}
She had sat on the couch while trembling uncontrollably, her head lowered in fear. That was when Regan burst in. He had wrapped her in his arms and coaxed her while holding her as she shook.
Then, he had stepped in front of her, shielded her from the furious creditors and negotiated with them.
In the end, he had signed a loan agreement. He promised to pay off the debt in installments.
Suddenly, the phone rang.”
