Chapter 19
1ao night, Athena had excitedly called her, discussing how to spend the 30 million dollars they were getting She went on and on, leaving Isis
eu and unable to sleep
By the time the call ended, she had barely slept a wink and didn’t wake up until 10 AM, still feeling a headache coming on.
She wasn’t a night end and couldn’t stay up late because of a lingering issue caused by a disease a few years ago. After eating a meal prepared by Sophie, she decided to go out and clear her head.
Today was the day she was supposed to see Samuel for his check–up, so she set off early for St. Stephen Hospital.
She wasn’t thrilled about going to that hospital, mainly because there were people there she’d rather avoid. But since Samuel’s condition didn’t allow him to be moved easily, she had no choice but to go.
When she arrived at the front yard, she saw several people tidying up the garden and grounds. When they saw her, they all respectfully greeted her ‘Good morning. Ms Moore!”
Isis smiled slightly. These were all people Adam had hired, and it was her idea too. With the mansion being so large, if Adam and Sophie managed it on their own, they would always be exhausted.
The from gate had been cleaned up, and the locks were replaced with new ones. From a distance, the house felt much livelier. Everything was moving in the right direction, and the house was starting to regain its former charm.
Isis couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride as she looked at it. Things were finally looking up.
At St. Stephen Hospital Adrian and Layla arrived with cold expressions, both ignoring each other, their frustrations simmering underneath..
They’d fought again the night before. Layla had taken out all her anger from Zoe and Alice on Adrian when she got back.
Adrian, already irritated from the tension at home, was in no mood to console her. They ended up in a massive argument and barely slept through the night
It had been two nights since they registered their marriage, and both nights had been full of fighting.
Adrian couldn’t understand it. They’d never fought before. Their relationship had always been smooth, sweet–like something out of a romance, He thought. So why, now that we have finally tied the knot, is it so hard to even get a peaceful night’s sleep?”
Frustration gnawed at him. And to make matters worse, when he got to the hospital, he got a call saying Naomi had to move out of the VIP room that day because the payment hadn’t been made.
So, he had no choice but to go with Layla to help her move. Layla didn’t let their personal issues interfere with the task at hand. After all, Naomi was still her patient–and family–so she went with him.
When they arrived at the VIP room, Naomi had no idea what was going on. She thought Adrian was just taking her for a stroll
It wasn’t until Adrian and Layla had moved all her personal belongings into a regular single room that she finally understood.
“Why am I being moved to another room! I don’t want to stay here! It’s small and shabby–how am I supposed to live here?” She yelled loudly, her voice sharp with frustration
Adrian, embarrassed, turned red. To be fair, the single room at St. Stephen Hospital wasn’t bad–It was actually a favor from the hospital, arranged because of his and Layla’s connections.
Layla saw how upset Naomi was and stepped in to try to calm her down. “Naomi, your health has improved, so a regular room is just fine now. The conditions here aren’t worse than the VIP room, and it won’t affect your recovery at all.”
“Are you blind?” Naomi snapped back immediately, her voice dripping with disdain. Layla was momentarily taken aback by the harsh reply
