Maddison abruptly stopped bawling, as though a thought had occurred to her.
She released her grip on him and removed the bracelet from her wrist. “I don’t want her things anymore! I don’t want any of it—not this bracelet! I want you! I just want you!”
She threw the bracelet at my feet.
The room froze.
I tried to catch it before it hit the floor, but I was too late–the bracelet shattered into pieces.
“How dare you?!” Edward suddenly roared.
I froze, still staring at the broken pieces.
Maddison was silent, too–maybe shocked by her own action or perhaps bewildered by Edward’s response.
1 leered at her, my gaze burning with fury.
Edward seemed taken aback by his outburst. He quickly approached me and crouched beside me, reaching toward the pieces hesitantly. “I’m sorry, Taylor. L…”
Tignored him and turned away from Maddison, focusing on the shards.
Suddenly, Edward turned to Maddison and barked, “Apologize to her, now!”
Maddison pursed her lips and began sobbing again. “But I didn’t mean to! She was the one who couldn’t catch it!”
“You did that on purpose! Apologize!”
“You’re… scolding me… for her…”
Edward was no longer so easily manipulated. His expression remained unmoved.
Harry glanced at the pieces, then remarked quietly, “Well, that happened. Maybe something so unexpected could change Maddie’s luck around.”
I couldn’t believe my ears.
“Or maybe it’s an omen. Ever think of that? Maybe you should imagine that bracelet being her life,” I retorted, seething.
Cameron pointed a finger at me and shrieked, “God will not let a vile, malicious woman like you live for long either, you sow! This bracelet should’ve suffered this fate years ago, just like your mother!”
I smirked. “I see. So, you’ve all been hoping to see this bracelet break, huh? Sorry to disappoint you.”
I pulled the real bracelet from my inner pocket, right in front of their faces.
The bracelet I had given Maddison was a fake. I bought it from a dingy shop yesterday for a cheap price because I knew these fools had never seen real nephrite jewelry up close.
I also knew Maddison would find any excuse to smash my bracelet in revenge.
They were stunned.
After staring at the bracelet for a few moments, they shouted, “You fucking lied to us! You don’t deserve those shares, you bitch! You conned us!”

I flashed a smug grin and turned toward the door.
Suddenly, Maddison snapped out of her shock and pointed at me. “I want that bracelet right now, Edward! Snatch it from her if you must! Now!”
