The door opened. My smile turned into a frown.

“Why the hell did you invite this eyesore?!” I grumbled at Jean.
She grinned. “Why else, other than to show him how much better your life has been since he’s gone!”
Jean walked toward him, completely ignoring the scowl on bis face. “Welcome, Mr. Kennedy! As you can see, Taylor’s having a blast after she booted you out of her life.

Oh yeah. Now this pleased me. This was exactly the kind of esson Edward needed.
His expression was so stormy that I could almost hear thunder rumbling in the distance.
He glared at me. “Is this what you’re doing to yourself now Taylor? Who even are you anymore?”
I beamed groggily and lifted the sash off my lap, revealing the sparkling letters. “I’m the Queen of the Night!”
Edward’s expression became unreadable.
The room fell silent. Everyone, including the young men, turned to stare at him.
But Jean wasn’t done. She flashed a grin as wide as the Cheshire Cat’s. “Time for Taylor to cut the cake! Now, we don’t mind

Edward’s fists clenched.
“Maddison is lying in the ICU right now!” he snapped. “She could die at any moment, and here you are celebrating your birthday, surrounded by men you don’t even know! How can you justify this?”
“Meh. If you care so much, why aren’t you at the hospital?” I replied flatly.
Edward was speechless.
I turned my attention back to the cake and started slicing it.
Soleil, always perceptive and quick on her feet, suddenly swiped some butter off the frosting and smeared it on my cheek, giggling
The rest of the room caught on to her playful energy. It was time to get back to the fun–Edward be damned! He stood frozen at the side, his furious silence as glaring as a stain on a white shirt.
Suddenly, someone “accidentally” threw a handful of butter straight at his chest.
His suit was ruined.
“Ah, I’m so sorry!” Alex said, rushing to wipe the butter off
Naturally, her attempts only smeared it further.
“Get off!” Edward barked, slapping her hand away.
He could tell Alex had done it on purpose. His patience snapped, and with a furious growl, he stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

I gave Alex a thumbs–up. Everyone had wanted to do that for me.
With the eyesore gone, the party mood skyrocketed. I was flying high, completely intoxicated by the moment.

Jean opened her mouth to respond but suddenly retched and staggered toward the bathroom to vomit.
“My family’s driver… Wheee… Lacey… with me…” Alex slurred.
I asked the others. Most of them had a boyfriend or their fathers‘ assistants to pick them up.
