I scanned the room and noticed two of the young men had stayed behind. They seemed less drunk than I was, too.

I hadn’t noticed the guy leaning closer until he suddenly held my hand.

I was stunned. Sure, I was so drunk that everything looked doubled, but I was still sober enough to understand
