I rolled my eyes and turned away from him.
Edward tugged at my hand and pulled me into his embrace.
“I’m sorry, Taylor! Please give me another chance! I love you! I don’t want to lose you! Please, just give me one more chance, for the love you’ve had for me over the past six years!”
He wouldn’t loosen his grip no matter how hard I tried to strug him off.
Repulsion filled me. It felt like being pulled into a cesspool. I just wanted out!
In desperation, I stomped on his foot. He inhaled sharply in pain as I broke free from his arms.

I turned again, but this time, he raised his voice. “Were you with Soren last night?”
1 glanced back at him.
Before I could reply, he continued. “I waited for you at the club last night, but Soren picked you up and drove you home. Then he stayed the whole night. Were you with him?!”
He sounded upset.

I crossed my arms and gave him a leering smile. “What? You mean did I have sex with him? Oh, yes. We did. Hell, we went at it over and over. He’s handsome, hot, and very good at what he does.
“God, I feel bad for myself. I should’ve met him sooner. I wouldn’t have had to waste my time if he’d just shown up earlier to save me from you.‘
His face grew stormier by the second.
“You’ve never allowed me to touch you a single time in six years. I respected your wishes! But now, you just have sex with some guy you’ve known for a few days?!
“Since when did you become such a slut? And you told me you’re not a gold–digger. Who will believe that?!”
I sneered. “Bro, you were sick for five of those six years. You should be happy you’re still alive, let alone trying to …futilely pump it.”
Edward’s rage intensified. He looked terrifying, glaring at me with his fists clenched.
I felt a surge of alarm.
Could he lose control and hit me?
“Don’t stalk me if you’re a man!” I said, hurrying toward my car.
I heard him shout, “We’re not getting a divorce! I won’t let him have you!”

I pulled open the car door and slid inside. I started the engine and noticed the car next to mine had started as well.
Startled, I turned and frowned.
Had someone seen our exchange? How embarrassing… 1
But then again, it wasn’t like we knew each other. When you’re armored, thicker skin could work! I just had to be thick–skinned.
The car suddenly pulled out first, causing Edward to back off.
It was an opening!
I quickly followed suit.
It was a luxury car–a Bentley, with an easy–to–remember registration plate: RP 6688.
I hoped the Bentley was soundproof enough that the driver hadn’t overheard our conversation! Unfortunately, as I would later find out, luck was certainly not on my side.
