Chapter 112
“Your dressmaking skill is so impressive, Miss Jones! You got a workshop, right? May I know where it is?”
“Miss Jones, is the commission period open? My daughter will be competing in a plano recital abroad, and I was wondering if you could make her a dress.”
“Miss Jones, how about a collaboration? I’m thinking about becoming your brand’s authorized seller. I’d love to discuss the details with you.”
The ladies surrounded me, bombarding me with requests.
Soren was right—I had gained a lot of new clients from high places!
When I finally managed to address all of their requests and had a moment to myself, I turned and saw Sally and Edith watching me from afar.
Edith was pouting in indignation, while Sally’s expression was more… complicated. It was as if regret, envy, and resentment had converged in her gaze.
1 straightened my back and beamed at them before leaving.
The party was over, and I bade Madame Kenway goodbye.
Soren was there to see me off at the gate, where the Bentley state limousine was already waiting.
“Okay, you’ve been busy taking care of guests the whole evening. You should go back and rest,” Soren said.
His eyes seemed to glimmer.
“I’m sorry I haven’t been able to keep you company as much as I wanted to. Allow me to invite you to a meal sometime,” he added, his tone gentlemanly.
I shook my head.
“Nah, you and your family have been great hosts. Even Sol kept me company!” I replied. “Besides, look at the clients I’ve bagged from this event!“*
I shook my phone, showing off the new contacts I had gathered.
Soren smiled. “They believe in what they saw–a truly talented dressmaker.”
“No, it’s all thanks to Madame Kenway’s help.”
The polite exchange was starting to make Soren uncomfortable. “Alright, when can we start talking to each other more casually? We already count as old friends, right?”
I laughed. Frankly, I shared his sentiments.
“Fine by me. I’ll talk to you like I would with my friends from now on. Anyway, I should go. You’ve probably got a lot to do, so I’ll bid you goodbye for now.”
I waved and entered the car.
The driver rolled the window down, and I waved again.
Soren stood his ground, watching me leave until we could no longer see each other in the distance.
“I rolled the window back up and sighed.

Chapter 112
Thinking about Soren filled my head with all sorts of thoughts.
I had initially believed his kindness toward me was a sign of romantic interest. He was so considerate and attentive to my needs that it felt as though he might be the best boyfriend I’d ever had.
But now, it seemed to me that his actions were motivated by gratitude for saving his life twice.
I had misread his intentions after all. But this realization might have come too late. In my heart, Soren commanded my admiration, adoration, and even respect.
I couldn’t tell what these emotions might gradually transform into, but I was certain reality would not tolerate them.
I had to stop them from going that way. I should just see him as a friend.
News of my attendance at Madame Kenway’s birthday party had spread.
My aunt even came to ask if Madame Kenway or Soren had taken an interest in me.
Amused, I explained the truth to her.
