Chapter 177
The pain and humiliation Edward caused me were worse than any mere “affair” most people could even hope to pall off.
“He was forced to do that, Taylor! Maddison was suffering from late–stage cancer, and Edward was just trying to help a dying woman. Doesn’t that show you how land and considerate he is?”
I frowned. The Kennedys were not okay. Every single one of them talked like they had a worm in their heads. I was pretty sure this elite family was on its last legs.
Anyway, who gave a shit? I just wanted to see the goddam evidence.”
“Show me the video, or I’m leaving right now.”
Edith stubbornly ignored me.

I
to my feet.
“Wait!” she finally called out.
I sat back down just as the waitress arrived with our orders
“Two glasses, please,” Edith told her.
The waitress dutifully poured for both of us before wishing us a pleasant evening
Once she left, though, I got straight to the point. “Your proof. Now.”
Edith pouted unhappily. “Fine, but don’t bother trying to delete it. I have backup copies.”
She thrust her phone at me so hard that it slipped from her grasp and landed in the mushroom sauce on top of my Beef Wellington.
I ducked, but not fast enough to dodge the flying sauce that splattered onto my coat
“Oh God!” she cried. “I’m sorry.”
I checked my coat. Well, at least it was dark–colored, so the stain wasn’t obvious.
Her phone had fallen to the floor. I ignored it and let her pick it up herself. Instead, I went to the bathroom.
When I returned, she finally handed the phone to me.
I watched the video and smiled dryly. Soren and I were smiling and chatting animatedly, but how was that supposed to be irrefutable proof of infidelity?
“That’s it? Mr. Kenway is my esteemed client. Your big Hail Mary is a video of a businesswoman having lunch with her client?” I said, unimpressed.
“Miss me with that crap!” Edith shot back.
“Weren’t you at Madaine Kenway’s birthday party? I made her dresses. You know what that means? It means a lot of the Kenways are my clients.”
Edith fell silent, then suckled on her straw before snapping “You can deny it all you want, but I know you’re eager to leave Edward because you’ve got someone else!”
1 snickered and stood, ready to leave.

Chapter 177
“Hey! You didn’t even touch your food! The stuff here isn’t cheap, you know!” she complained.
I glanced at the juicy, perfectly cooked Beef Wellington, then studied Edith. She had really wanted me here today,
huh?
Why?
I sat back down. Just as I was about to take a sip of my juice I noticed something–a white, powdery residue at the edge of my straw.
