Violet’s POV
“You look beautiful, Violet,” Emily said as I walked out of the bathroom attached to my new room. She had let me borrow a short, light blue dress. I felt a little uncomfortable wearing it because it was an expensive dress and showed too much of my big breasts. It was also too short for my liking. I wasn’t used to wearing such short and revealing clothing.
“Are you sure this is an appropriate outfit to meet your parents in? I don’t want them to get the wrong impression of me,” I said

I walked over to the long mirror that was attached to my closet. I had to admit I did look nice in the dress. You could see all the curves of my hourglass body. I had straightened my long brunette hair making it, so it was hanging down to my waist.

“I can’t wear these. I will fall on my ass trying to walk in them,” I said while looking at the heels. I was never one to dress up. There was a knock on my bedroom door, and Emily went to get it. She walked over with a bag in her hand. “This is for Sofia to wear, and no, you don’t have to pay me for it,” she said and pulled a light pink dress out of the bag and some white dress shoes.
“Emily, I can’t take this from you. You have already done so much for Sofia and me,” I said

“Open the gate,” Dan said, and the gate began to open. Emily said bye to Dan and drove through the gate. We passed a lot of trees while driving up to her parent’s home. We passed some houses on our way, couples walked, and children played outside.
“Is this a house community or something?‘ I asked, surprised when we drove past a park and some stores.

three guards were. Emily waved her hand, and one of the guards quickly opened the gate, letting us inside. The house that was there looked like a castle that was made of all brick.
There was a concrete staircase that led up to the front door. A group of guys and girls around my age were sitting and talking. I was sure one of the guys and girls was a couple because the girl was sitting on his laugh, and they were kissing.
“Do others live here besides your parents?” I asked as she drove through the gate.
“Yeah, there are different families who have lived here since I was a little girl,” Emily said.
“I couldn’t imagine living with a lot of different families,” I said
“I loved it. We are all like a family here. Even the people that live in the community houses are like family.” I thought about what she said. It would be nice living with people that I saw as my family. After my mom passed, my sister was the only person I saw that way. My father became someone different and evil, like a total stranger from the man he used to be. It would be nice to have someone that cared for me after my mom passed.
We hopped out of the car. I took Sofia out of her car seat. She was asleep when we arrived, so I picked her up and walked toward the front door with Emily.
“Hey, Little Em,” I heard one of the guys that were sitting with the group on the stairs say as he walked over to us. He was tall, around six foot four, with blond hair and blue eyes. I could tell he must work out because I could see his muscular body through his shirt.

“Who are your friends?” Carter asked, looking at me, then asleep Sofia. I felt disgusted when I noticed him checking me

“This is Violet, and the little one is Sofia. Violet is my best friend and roommate, and she is off limits, Carter,” Emily growled and poked him in the chest. I was shocked she had called me her best friend already. I had just met her that day morning in a Pancake restaurant, but at the same time, it felt like what she was saying was the truth. I also felt we were already best friends. I knew Samantha would be pissed if she knew I saw someone else as my best friend.
“Hey, I was only asking who she was,” Carter said, then looked at me and smiled. “Hello, beautiful. I am Carter. It is nice to meet you and Sofia,” he said with a smile on his face.
“Nice to meet you too,” I said and shook his hand.
“Now that you introduced yourself to my friend, we are going inside to see my parents. Is my brother here?” Emily asked
“Yes, he is upstairs with my sister in his room. I don’t think you want to bother them right now,” Carter said
“Eww. I am definitely not doing that. Come on, Violet. My parents are ready to meet you and Sofia.”
“Bye,” I said to Carter and followed Emily up the stairs and through the front door. The inside of the house was nicer than the outside. People were running around making sure everything was ready for Emily’s parent’s anniversary party. We walked passed a lovely family room and into a kitchen.

“Ew, get a room,” Emily said when we walked into the kitchen to see a couple kissing. They looked older, possibly in their late thirties.
“Sorry, Honey. It is about time you got here. Hello, I am Emily’s mom, and this is Emily’s dad. You must be Violet, and that must be Sofia,” Emily’s mom said with a smile.
“Yes, Hello, Mrs. Davis,” I replied
“Oh, you can call me Traci, Dear,” Traci said, smiling at me, and I smiled back. “You should take Sofia to Emily’s room to rest. The party will start in about an hour. Also, Emily, I need you to get your brother from his room,” Traci said
“Mom, he might be busy,” Emily said
“Busy doing what? Go get him,” Traci said
“Fine.” Emily and I walked up to her room, and I placed Sofia on the bed.
