My heart warmed a little, and I couldn’t bring myself to reject him again.
When we arrived at the academy’s entrance, I saw banners and balloons decorating the square, along with beautiful lights that brightened the atmosphere and made everything feel much livelier.

Traffic wardens were stationed around the area, restricting foreign cars from entering and leaving only a narrow lane, guided by cones, for pedestrians.
Staff members were overseeing that lane as well.
Soren rolled down his window, and a staff member politely removed the cone blocking his path without Soren needing to say a word.
With a huge smile, the staff member said, “Welcome back!”
I was so surprised that I asked, “Do they all know who you are?”
Soren smiled. “Of course not. I just gave them my car plates beforehand.”
“I see…” I nodded, scanning the entrance for Amanda.
But even after Soren drove further into the academy, she was nowhere to be found.
Just as I was about to call her, I spotted her standing inside. “There she is!”
“But I can’t drop you here. I’ll drive a little further in, okay?”
“Okay.” I then called Amanda. “Manny, I’m inside the academy. I’ll be out of the car soon–meet me a little further ahead.”
Amanda sounded really surprised. “Wow! You actually managed to drive your car inside?!”
“No, that’s not it… I’ll explain later.“.
Soren drove another 160 feet deeper into the academy’s grounds before stopping at the side.
I unbuckled my seatbelt and thanked him for the ride. “Thank you, Soren. I’ll see you tonight then.”
Soren turned toward me with an enchanting smile. “We could see each other during the day too, you know?”
My heart almost skipped a beat at his words, and I was just about to get out of the car!
But I pretended not to hear him and stepped out.
He’s so glued to me, it felt like we’re a couple madly in love with each other. Geez!
After closing the door, I waved goodbye to him through the rolled–down window.
That was when Amanda spotted me and yelled, “Taylor!”
Soren’s car had already driven off by the time she reached me, which made her curious.
“Whose luxurious car was that? Could it be the man who loaned you his jacket yesterday?” she asked.
I felt guilty, and my cheeks flushed, but I didn’t deny it.

We both turned toward the source of the voice and saw our former classmates.
To make matters worse, Candy, my nemesis back at the academy, was among them.
Amanda and I weren’t interested in dealing with Candy, so we just smiled and greeted the group before trying to walk away.
But they followed us, sounding much friendlier than we were used to.
