Chapter 221
Soren hadn’t drunk much and was still conscious, but his face had already started to turn slightly red. His eyes also glistened with a new intensity.
“Do you still want to spend some time with your former coursemates?” Soren asked me when he noticed the crowd beginning to leave, some still chatting with their friends.
My heart raced as I looked at him. “I need to go back to my table to collect my stuff.”
“Okay, go ahead. I’ve still got some things to take care of, but I’ll call you when I’m ready to leave later.”
Once again, I insisted, “I can go back home myself if you’re busy. You don’t need to trouble yourself.”
“It’s no trouble,” he replied. “I’m just going to spend some time with my coursemates.”
Soren looked straight into my eyes with a faint smile as he asked, “Are you worried I might do something unthinkable because I’m drunk?”
My face flushed instantly, and I shook my head. “No, I know you’re not that kind of person.”
His smile grew wider as he stared at me even more intently. “You shouldn’t trust men too much, no matter how gentlemanly they seem.”
“Umm…” I wasn’t sure how to respond.
What was he implying? Was he saying he might try something just because he’d been drinking? Should I leave the academy with him if that were the case?
My mind froze for a moment, but then a thought hit me, and I asked, “You have not drunk much, so… does this mean I’m driving?”
I should be safe if that’s the case, right?
He wouldn’t try anything inappropriate if I were the one behind the wheel, right?
No! Of course not! Because…
“No, you won’t,” he replied. “I’ll have the driver come over to take us back.”
My mind buzzed once more.
I still couldn’t figure out whether that was a good or bad thing.
If his driver drove us, both Soren and I would be in the backseat. That meant we’d be close to each other, and there was a real chance something could happen.
Still… he wouldn’t do anything if his driver was around, right?
Besides, he didn’t seem like the type who’d get all handsy.
Just then, my phone rang before I could respond to Soren.
It was Amanda.
“Taylor, you do remember you left your stuff behind at our table, don’t you?” she asked.
I do remember. I’ll be right there,” I replied.
After hanging up, I looked at Soren and said, “I’m heading back now. Let me know

Chapter 221
“Okay,”
When I got back to my table, only half of my former coursemates remained, including Candy.
A few of them immediately began asking questions when they saw me.
“How close are you to Mr. Kenway?”
“Everyone says you’ve been really down since Edward left you, but it seems like you’re the one who moved on first -because you found someone better. Is that true?”
They might have sounded curious, but I knew they were mostly jealous.
I just smiled and replied, “We’re just friends, so please don’t start any rumors about us.”
Candy shot me a sharp glance, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she said, “How do you even know Mr. Kenway? Your families are so different there’s no way you’d ever cross paths.
I grabbed my purse and stood up to leave.
Before I walked away, though, I said, “Why should I tell you who I know or why I have connections with anyone?”
“What?!”
Amanda appeared behind me, using the same deliberate tone she’d used earlier with Candy. “I wonder who doesn’t deserve a relationship with Mr. Kenway. After all, he completely ignored you when you tried talking to him, didn’t he?”
As expected, Candy was furious. “What’s it got to do with you, Amanda? How could you be so happy being Taylor’s Lapdog?”
“Because I like being her friend. Are you jealous of that too?” she retorted.
“You!” Candy was at a loss for words.
