i’m really sorry. My grandmother’s at the hospital. I guess have to sit this one out,” I replied in dismay, glancing at the receipt.
“Oh God! Is she okay? Would you like me to refer any doctor?” Soren offered.
“No, it’s alright. The doctor told us it was a heart attack. For now, she’ll be undergoing thrombolysis.”
“Which hospital are you at?” he asked.
I hesitated before answering, “Metropolitan Health Central”
“I see. Well, in that case, I better not distract you from what you need to do. Contact me if you need anything.”
“Thanks.”
After the call ended, I went to my grandmother’s ward. She had woken up while the doctor and nurses were checking on her.
I watched as she answered their questions and knew she was conscious and awake.
The realization eased my worry.
The dusk darkened into night.
My grandmother, hooked to the IV drip, fell asleep.
“Tay?” my aunt said, approaching me, “You should go home and rest. You still have work tomorrow.”
I frowned “No, Aunt Sarah, I can stay with her.”
My aunt, getting older, shouldn’t be staying up too late, but she insisted it was fine. She said she’d even enlisted help from a personal nurse.
We decided to take turns each night. Sarah could have the first shift. I helped her order dinner, then left.
Unfortunately, it seemed like bad luck wasn’t done with me When I arrived at the parking lot and tried to start my car, it wouldn’t work.
I’d been driving this car for more than three years without a single issue. Dismayed, I was about to call a repair shop when I saw Soren’s name flash on the screen.
I sighed in relief, instinctively feeling like help had arrived. “Hey.”
“Are you still at the hospital?!!
“I was about to leave. Why?”
“I just arrived. Where are you? The ward? The parking lot?” he asked.
He… came?
I scanned the area and quickly spotted the shining black Audi. A smile crept onto my lips as I waved. “I see you!”
“Me too.”
I waited for his car to approach, and then Soren stepped out of the backseat.
It had been a cold day, with temperatures below 32°F. The wind cut my face like blades, but as he walked toward me, I felt shielded from the cold.

Chapter 237
I shrank into my coat against the chill. “Why are you here?
He towered over me, his presence as powerful as ever. He frowned. “I was worried it might overwhelm you—since you seem to be handling this alone–so 1 decided to see if I could help.”
“Well, I wasn’t alone!” I smiled. “Aunt Sarah is here, too. She’s going to stay with my grandmother tonight, so I’m heading home.”
I felt warm and fuzzy inside. I had never felt so cared for by guy before. He was attentive, noticing even the smallest details, and showing his care through actions.
I had lived a life lacking this kind of attention, and so what he was doing… It meant a lot to me. It moved me.
Even when Edward and I were together, he hadn’t been this considerate. I was always the one taking care of him. “Hey, have you had dinner yet?” I asked. “I’m pretty hung”
He smiled. “What are you craving?”
“Nothing specific. How about you choose?”
“Hotpot, then. The same place you went with your colleague last time,” he answered.
I raised an eyebrow in surprise.
