Phoebe bit her lower lip, her voice laced with coldness. “Aren’t you afraid Jennifer will learn this? How will you explain it to her?”
Declan’s gaze was icy as he enunciated each word. “That has nothing to do with you. Just answer–yes or no.”
Phoebe took a deep breath, took a step back, and met his stare with an unwavering expression. “No.”
Declan let out a mocking laugh and said, “Guess you don’t want that divorce that badly after all.”
By now, Phoebe had calmed down completely. She looked at him with indifference and replied, “I don’t need this to get a divorce. You’ll agree to it eventually.”
Seeing the certainty in her eyes, Declan felt an inexplicable wave of frustration. His jaw tightened as he snapped, “GET OUT.”

Without hesitation, Phoebe turned around and walked out of his room. It wasn’t until she stepped out that she finally felt the weight of his gaze lift off her.
Soon, it was George’s birthday. Early that morning, he called Liam and asked, “Declan will show up today, right?”
Declan was Phoebe’s husband, but no one in the Greene family dared take him lightly. Many of their major business deals had gone through simply because of their connection to him. If Declan showed up at the birthday party, it would undoubtedly be a huge boost to the family’s prestige.
Liam was in the middle of breakfast when he received the call, and he replied, “Dad, don’t worry. Even if Phoebe can’t get him to come, do you really think Jennie won’t?”
Hearing that, George chuckled. “Good point. Alright, I’ll leave it to you.”
After hanging up, Liam turned to Jennifer and instructed, “Give Declan a call. Make sure he comes to your grandpa’s birthday party today.”
Jennifer shook her head and explained, “Dad, why are you so worried? Deck already promised me he’d come. If I call him now, it’ll just make us look desperate.”
Liam thought about it and nodded. “You’re right. Just make sure to bring him straight to your grandpa as soon as he arrives.”
“Got it. But first, I need to get my hair done and pick out a dress. I’m heading out now,” said Jennifer with a wave of her hand.

One hour later, Jennifer came to Roseberg’s largest shopping mall.
Jennifer and Bianca Jennings strolled through the boutiques and casually chatted. Bianca was Jennifer’s closest friend and had recently returned to the country.
“Hon, you’re staying for good this time, right?” asked Jennifer.
A bright smile lit up Bianca’s face as she nodded. “Yeah, I wrapped up my work overseas. As long as nothing unexpected comes up, I’m settling down in Roseberg.”
Jennifer shot her a teasing look. “Honestly, you came back for Scott, right?”
Years ago, Bianca and Scott had dated, but she chose her career over love and left the country. Even after all these years,

Scott had never been in another relationship. Everyone knew Scott had been waiting for Bianca.
A faint binh crept up Bianca’s checks, and she shot Jennifer a playful glare. “Girl, don’t talk nonsense. I just wanted to be closer to home, so I can spend more time with my parents”
Seeing her blush, Jennifer didn’t press further but just smiled. Instead, she said, “Scott will be at my grandpa’s birthday party tonight. I’ll make sure you guys get some time alone?
Blanca shook her head and answered “Thanks, babe, but no. There are still some things we need to clear up first. I’ll handle it myself
Jennifer said, “Fine, but if you need my help, just let me know.”
Bianca nodded. “Actually, there’s something I wanted to tell you.”
Jennifer raised her brows and asked, “What is it?”
Bianca pulled out her phone, tapped on a video, and handed it to Jennifer. “I recorded this at Eclipse Lounge the night I got back. I wasn’t sure if I should show it to you.”
Jennifer’s smile slowly faded as she watched the screen. There, captured in the video, was Declan and Phoebe.
