“No, I was just asking casually,” Janessa gave a somewhat insincere smile, then seemed somewhat reluctant to leave.
After that, she began purposely shift the topic, making conversation out of nothing. For instance, she asked, “Have you seen any good movies lately?”
“I’ve been reviewing my lessons every day. When would I have time to watch a movie?” Madelyn responded truthfully.
“Oh… But I’ve always been curious. You used to dislike studying, right? How come you’ve suddenly taken. such a liking to it?” Janessa asked.
“This question is so dull, isn’t it? Isn’t it a given that we should study hard? I certainly don’t want to fail to graduate,” Madelyn playfully retorted. However, inwardly, she was growing a bit impatient.
So, she gently ushered Janessa out, saying, “All right, Janessa, if you don’t have anything else, you should go home first. I still have to review my lessons.”
Janessa wasn’t one to give up that easily. She quickly said, “Madelyn, there’s no rush to review your homework right now. Besides, it’s been a while since we last ate together. How about we have dinner together tonight? Sebastian happens to be here too, and we should invite him as well.”
Upon hearing this, Madelyn couldn’t help but scoff inwardly. She has been wanting to ask that question, right?
Madelyn feigned reluctance, saying, “Oh? It does seem like it’s been a while since we last ate together. However, I’ve caught a cold, and Sebastian told me to rest and not to go out. What should we do?”
After she finished speaking, Madelyn deliberately scratched her neck, acting a bit uncomfortable. In doing so, she allowed her clothing to slip slightly off her left shoulder, revealing a prominent red love bite on her
neck.
Janessa obviously recognized that as a love bite. In an instant, her gaze was as sharp as an arrow, as if she was about to pierce right through Madelyn.
Madelyn, however, seemed completely oblivious, innocently asking, “Janessa, what’s wrong?”
“Oh, it’s nothing.” Janessa abruptly withdrew her gaze. She then struggled to muster a faint smile. “In that case, I’ll leave first. Take good care of yourself, and when you have time, we can have dinner together.”
After she finished speaking, Janessa didn’t even wait for Madelyn’s response. She swiftly walked out of Lockhart Villa, her demeanor resembling that of someone fleeing in disarray.
After leaving Lockhart Villa, her true nature was immediately revealed. The look in her eyes gradually grew resentful.
At that moment, she was seething inside. Madelyn, you despicable woman! Despicable! I want you dead!
With a cold chuckle, Madelyn pulled her clothes back on and turned to say to Lydia, “Lydia, in the future, please don’t let this woman step foot in here again. She’s not welcome in our home.”
Upon hearing that, Lydia replied without a second thought. “Understood.”

Over the past couple of days, Sebastian hadn’t been to the office. Instead, he had Malcolm send over the digital versions of some work materials for him to review. At that moment, he was patiently going through each one in the study upstairs.
Suddenly, his phone suddenly started ringing.
Sebastian picked up his phone, noticing a call from Malcolm. He naturally slid to answer.
“Mr. Lockhart, we’ve completed the investigation into Josiah’s identity,” Malcolm stated after the call connected.
“Oh? Let’s hear it, then.” Sebastian didn’t even raise an eyebrow.
Malcolm was holding a file on Josiah, and he reported, “Josiah is the youngest master of the Blume family. The patriarch of the Blume family. Felix Blume, was a man of great respect and honor. In his youth, he served as a colonel in the military and had numerous commendable achievements. Under his guidance, every descendant of the Blume family has become a valuable contributor to society. Of course, this doesn’t apply to Josiah. Born into such a privileged environment and being the youngest, he’s naturally showered with love and affection. As a result, his family ends up spoiling him, leading to his rebellious and wild nature. Rumor has it that lately, Felix has been urging him to join the military and serve the country. However, the stubborn child flatly refused, choosing instead to gallivant around town and hardly ever come home.”
Sebastian, in fact, didn’t pay much attention to these matters. What really intrigued him was why this youngster named Josiah was with Madelyn that day.

At that moment, Madelyn was seated by the table, chatting with Lydia. Whatever they were discussing had them both laughing heartily. Madelyn, in particular, looked adorable and sweet with her radiant smile.
Suddenly, Madelyn saw Sebastian descending the stairs. Immediately, Lydia greeted him with a smile. “Mr. Lockhart, I’ve made some desserts. Please come and have a taste.”
Upon hearing those words, Sebastian casually made his way over.

Sebastian eyed the cream on the cake, clearly hesitating for a moment, seemingly unsure of how to start.
Madelyn was nearly frantic with worry as she watched, unable to help but plead in a coaxing tone, “Sebastian, it really is delicious. Lydia put a lot of effort into making it. Please, just try a bite. I promise it’s
not too sweet.”
Seeing her like this, Sebastian found it somewhat unbearable to reject her.
Unexpectedly, he picked up her spoon and scooped up a mouthful.
“How is it? How is it? Is it good?” Madelyn eagerly looked at him.
Sebastian savored it carefully, discovering that the cake’s texture was exceptional. It nearly melted in his mouth, not overly sweet but carrying a hint of refreshing aroma.
Hence, he gave a nonchalant nod. “Not too bad.”
