Chapter 305
I had to tilt my chin up because Soren was hugging me so tightly.
“Alright! Michael’s watching you,” I teased.
Soren finally released me, pinching my cheek before getting into the car.
I watched him drive off, smiling to myself. I couldn’t wait to see him later.
I turned to head toward my car but then saw someone I least wanted to encounter–Edward Kennedy. He sat in his wheelchair, his assistant pushing him toward me.
My expression darkened, and my mind raced, trying to predict his motive.
Edith’s case was going to trial the day after tomorrow, so he had to be here for that.
The evening air grew colder as dusk settled. The winter wind bit through the streets, but nothing felt as dark of cold as Edward’s expression.
He sneered from a couple of paces away. “Have you no shame, Taylor? The Internet’s already against you, yet here you are, acting all sweet and sappy in public.”
Lhad heard far worse on the Internet than that. Hell, I was already known for fighting back against my online
critics.
“What, you’re not satisfied with getting everyone to dogpile on me online? Now you’re going to do it in person, too? You’re a little late to the party, Edward. Insulting me? So passé. Just like your so–called ‘love‘ for me.”
I paused, my voice growing sharper. “By the way, have you ever thought about how pathetic you look, clinging to someone who doesn’t even want you anymore?”
Edward gritted his teeth.
“Did you really come here just to get torn apart by me in person? You’re worse than a masochist!
“Honestly, I don’t even know why you wouldn’t just stay home and prolong your miserable existence.”
I turned and started walking away.
“What do you want me to do for you to finally let Edith go?! You’ve won! You’ve won everything! Why keep pushing your victims toward their graves?!” he shouted after me.
I stopped, bewildered. “If that’s what you wanted, then why launch a smear campaign against me?”
Edward didn’t answer. Instead, he shot back, “What’s your price? Name it.”
His evasion made the truth dawn on me.
“You wanted to bully me off the Internet and out of the case,” I said. “You wanted to put so much pressure and hate on me that I’d eventually cave.”
But it hadn’t gone according to his plan.
I fought back against the trolls, and then Soren used his drones to create the most public, lavish, and loving display–one that showed the truth of our relationship.
Edward had failed. Now, he was left with no choice but to negotiate.
I couldn’t help but snicker. What kind of idiot tried to bully first and negotiate later? Didn’t that feel humiliating?

Edward clenched the sides of his wheelchair, his face pale.
“Edith is pregnant from that incident,” he said, his voice tr know how much pain she’s in? Her body… her mind… You’re her to die?”

Chapter 305
“I think you’re sicker in the head than your body will ever be,” I mocked. “You forced me onto the offensive, and now you want me to back off from your sister? Are you really that stupid?”
Edward clenched the sides of his wheelchair, his face pale.
“Edith is pregnant from that incident,” he said, his voice trembling. “She wants to abort the child, but do you know how much pain she’s in? Her body… her mind… You’re a woman–you know what that’s like! Do you want her to die?”
