Soren raised an eyebrow. “Are you regretting the choice you made last night?”
“Huh?” I stared at him, shaking my head. “No way. I wouldn’t disrespect you like that.”
“Phew. That’s a relief.”
“I was just thinking… I don’t have the best reputation right now, right? I got famous for dunking on people online. And now you’re just eagerly introducing me to everyone else as your girlfriend…”
He chuckled. “I want the world to know how fierce my girlfriend is. Then no one will ever bully me again.”
I stared at him in disbelief. “Honey, who in their right mind would bully Lord Soren Kenway?!”
It should be the other way around!
“We are one now,” he said. “It doesn’t matter why other people are afraid of bullying us.”
I laughed. It felt good to have such a powerful man as my backer and boyfriend.
As we ate, Soren remarked, “My family has learned about our new status. You should come to Beaumont to meet my parents.‘
“But I’ve already met your mom and everything! Do I need to do it again?” I asked.
It felt like our relationship was moving at a breakneck pace!
“You’ll be seeing them with a different status. Of course, you have to meet my parents as my girlfriend.”
I glanced at the food, feeling a bit stuck.
Soren noticed my hesitation and offered a way out. “I know you’re busy around this time. Don’t worry. It’s not urgent.”
“I do have a lot on my plate lately. My lawyer told me Edith’s case is about to go into session. Then, once that’s done, I’ll have to travel abroad to Medhelanon.”
He nodded. “We’ll wait until all of that is done. You could always come around Spring. Like Easter.”
“That sounds great.”
Halfway through our meal, Soren’s phone rang. It sounded like urgent business–he rose instantly. “Sorry, Taylor. I need to attend to this. You okay going home on your own?”
“Sure. Take care of it–whatever it is,” I replied.
“Talk to you later.”
“Bye!”
I watched his tall, handsome figure retreating into the distance, sighing in contentment. I still couldn’t believe we were together now.
A relationship could form so quickly after another one ended. I didn’t even know if this one could last. But I’d live in the moment and cherish him now. The future was a problem for Future Taylor to handle. People passed my table, pointing and gossiping. I turned and stared at them so hard that they felt embarrassed
