I laughed. “Oh my God, he’s so done with us now. Come on
Soren dropped me off at my company’s lobby. It was peak hour, and I ran into several people outside. They greeted me as usual, but their eyes kept darting toward the black Audi that had brought me here.
I should have gotten out of the car earlier…..
Well, they’d already seen me. Might as well get used to it. glanced back at the man inside and said, “I’m off. Bye!”
“I’ll come for you later.”
“Alright.”
I turned and sashayed into the building, my heels clicking against the floor.
Sure, I had to appear in court again tomorrow, but that did nothing to dull this feeling of being on top of the world.
Maybe I had finally found the courage to live.
I wished it could last longer, though.
As soon as I stepped into the office, Cameron appeared, gripping a mop. “You! We need to talk!”
My mood soured. “What? Starting another rebellion? Do you need another lesson?”
I had sent her information to debt–collection companies with questionable ethics. Since then, she’d been far more cooperative.
As I strode away, she followed, her voice rising. “Your dad’s sick! He’s really sick, and he needs money in prison!”
I stopped and turned to her, my gaze turning cold.
“You sold the company to Lola, and now he has no income at all. Where else am I supposed to get the money from? “she demanded.
People were starting to gather. I needed to move this somewhere private. “My office. Now.”
“You know how Harry’s treated–ne over the years,” I said pointedly. “What makes you think I’d give him a single. cent?”
Cameron gripped the mop like a sword. “Sure, he didn’t treat you well or whatever, but he’s still your father. You can’t just refuse to help your own father! He wouldn’t even be sick if you hadn’t sent him to prison!”
“Correction–he sent himself to prison. That’s got nothing to do with me.” I sneered. “Honestly, I hope his condition gets worse so that he will die sooner.”
“So you’re not gonna help.”
“Nope. What are you gonna do about it?”
She glared at me for a long moment before storming out.
I frowned.
That was it? Cameron wasn’t the type to give up so easily. Something about her retreat felt off.
Chapter 310
Worried she might be plotting something, I had Cherry inform the cleaners‘ group to keep an eye on her.
Strangely enough, nothing happened for the rest of the day
Soren arrived as promised, and we drove to his personal lakeside villa.
It was my first time stepping into his sanctuary. The Interior was quiet, elegant, and undeniably lavish, while outside, the landscape was a stark expanse of white and gray coldness.
But the villa’s yard felt like spring had come early. A little stream wound through the property, its waters teeming with fish. Meadows of flowers stretched across the lush greenery.
“I had this house designed to resemble the Kenway residence a little,” Soren said, watching me closely. “But I
don’t know if you’ll like it. If you don’t, we can always buy another house. Or a new property.”
