“Didn’t your car just break down a while ago? Why is it busted again?” he asked, his voice laced with concern rather than jealousy.

“Mr. Young said some rats chewed through the wires. He managed to reconnect them temporarily, but I’ll need to get it fixed tomorrow.”
“Okay. I think I mentioned buying you a new car. Let’s find a time to do that.”
I instinctively declined. “It’s fine. This car is only a few years old. Both incidents were accidents, not faults.”
Soren sighed. “You wouldn’t move to the villa when I invited you. You won’t take the car when offered. What else can I do as your boyfriend? Maybe I should learn to repair cars.”
His first two lines made me feel warm and fuzzy, but his last one? It made me laugh.
He was jealous! He just hadn’t shown it until now.
For some reason, I felt my mood lift. “Alright. Between those two choices, I’ll take the car.”
