Chapter 328
Then, Edith bowed toward the camera, her face a mix of reluctance and regret. “I’m sorry, Taylor. I truly am, and 1 ask that you forgive me.”
As soon as the video was released, many friends forwarded to ine, congratulating me for finally getting my revenge and completely humiliating the Kennedys.
But I felt surprisingly calm.
In truth, whether she apologized or not didn’t matter much to me. I just wanted justice for myself.
Still, the fact that Edith had gone through with it took a great deal of courage, which was unexpected. In a way, it was satisfying to see her do that.
That was when Edward called me again.
“Edith has apologized. So when are you going to issue that letter?”
“I’ll contact Ace in the next couple of days to handle it.”
“Can you do it today?”
Lfrowned. “Why the rush?”
“Why do you think? You’d probably dread spending even a second longer in a cell if you got locked up, you?” he questioned.
wouldn’t
His words irritated me, so I retorted, “Well, I’m not useless and self–destructive like some idiot, digging their own grave.”
The air grew tense.
I didn’t care if he was
as angry.
“You’re the
he ones asking me for a favor, so th
the least you could do is show me some
respect and sincerity.”
After a brief silence, Edward spoke again, but with a slightly better attitude. “You’ve been wanting to cut ties with me as soon as possible, haven’t you? I’ll get the villa’s transfer of ownership done if you send that letter.”
I couldn’t help but smirk.
Well, well… Finally, someone was learning to be more practical in a negotiation. He had already brought up what I wanted before we had even started negotiating.
“Fine, but I’ll only send the letter once the villa’s transferred.”
I needed leverage over Edward. I didn’t trust him and wasn’t about to risk him going back on his word and stringing me along again.
“Do you really not understand which one needs to be prioritized, Taylor?” Edward’s voice sharpened with frustration.
I remained indifferent. “To me, the things that affect my interests matter more. How long your sister stays in her cell has nothing to do with me.”
There was only silence at the other end of the call. Edward was too furious to speak.
“Take your time and think it over,” I said. “If you decide fast enough, we can get this done today. Otherwise, we’ll have to wait until tomorrow, and your sister will stay locked up for another day.”
Chapter 320
“Fine. We’ll get the transfer done now. Meet me there,”
I smiled in satisfaction, then gave Cherry some instructions before heading out to the municipal office.
Returning to the municipal office brought back mixed emotions.
The last time I was here, we were about to process the transfer when Maddison stormed in furiously.
I had managed to slip away just in time to avoid disaster. Instead, Maddison had unleashed her anger on Edward, dumping an entire cup of hot chocolate over him.
Now, things were different with Maddison gone.
I arrived first and waited for about ten minutes. Just as I started to suspect Edward might stand me up again, he finally appeared–late as usual–sitting in a wheelchair.
His secretary followed closely behind.
As they drew near, the secretary stepped forward, handed him a paper bag, and left with a respectful nod.
Edward, seated in his battery–operated wheelchair, maneuvered it smoothly until he stopped directly in front of me. He extended the paper bag toward me.
“Hot chocolate, your favorite,” Edward offered. “You didn’t get to finish the last one.”
