“Y–You unbelievable ass!” Cameron kicked her son so hard he staggered and fell to the ground.
Miles bounced back instantly and hoisted his father onto his back, ignoring the old man’s protests and curses.
I had to suppress a laugh as I led the way. The grave was only 300 yards away, but getting there was a battle between the two of them.
In the end, Miles had to drag Harry the rest of the way.
I signaled for Miles to drop Harry. “Here. This is where Mom and Grandpa are.”
Miles dumped his dad like a sack of rocks, then pulled out his phone, panting. “700, now.”
I transferred the money without hesitation.
He beamed. “Oh shit, thanks, sis!”
Well, well, he finally acknowledged me as his sister. “My pleasure, brother mine.”
Cameron, enraged, yanked Miles aside and started raining blows on him as he yelped.
Meanwhile, Harry slumped near the grave, too exhausted to do anything. After a moment, he forced himself upright.
I noticed him turning away.
“If you leave, I won’t pay a dime for your bills. You’ll be joining them soon enough, and you know it,” I announced
Harry gnashed his teeth. “I can sue you! You’ll have to pay for my living!”
“Sure. I’ll sell my company and donate every cent to charity What exactly will the court make me pay then?”
He snarled but had no retort.
“I don’t believe you! You wouldn’t dare give up all that money!” Cameron shrieked. “You’re just bluffing!”
I snickered. “Try me.”
They both fell silent.
Miles, who had already started a game on his phone, spoke up as though he were some hired mediator. “C’mon, Dad. Look at yourself, huh? You’re desperate, and beggars can’t be choosers. There’s no one else who can pay for your treatment except Taylor. I mean, I know for sure I don’t have the money.”
“Shut the fuck up, you bastard!”
Damn. Miles was really my biggest ally right now
“Right where you are, bro! That’s another 150 bucks for you!”
“Thank you, Taylor! You’re beautiful and kind!” he chirped
At this rate, if I paid him enough, I could probably make Miles force his father to kneel before Mom’s grave.
Damn. I suddenly didn’t know what to think of him. Yes, he had bullied me a lot when we were kids–I used to wish I could break his neck.
But now? He was my greatest asset. He was so useful that I was actually glad he existed. Canieron and Harry were being tormented by their own precious son.

“I have no problem paying for your treatment,” I said. “However, there are conditions. You kneel here, in front of Mom and Grandpa, and repent. Do that now, and I’ll get you into a hospital immediately. I’ll cover everything.
“Then, from now on, on the first of every month, you both show up here and repent again for at least half an hour. Do that, and I’ll pay for another month of your bills.
“Fail to show up or show enough sincerity, and the deal’s off. How’s that?”
