Phoebe had heard these words countless times before. She responded indifferently, “Do not worry. I am well aware of my place in your heart.
Neither of them spoke again, and an oppressive silence filled the living room.
Phoebe stood up and looked at Declan. “I will clean up the kitchen and order takeout. What do you want to eat?”
“Anything. I will be in the study working. Declan said.
After he left, Phoebe tidied up the kitchen and then picked a takeout restaurant she liked. Once she placed the order, she sat in the living room, scrolling through her phone while waiting.
In less than an hour, the food arrived. Phoebe set the table and went to call Declan for dinner.
The moment Declan saw the dishes on the table, his face darkened. “Phoebe, did you do this on purpose?”
Phoebe picked up her fork and glanced at him in confusion. “What do you mean?”
“You know very well that I cannot eat spicy food, yet you ordered so many spicy dishes,” Declan said.
Phoebe was a spice lover. In the past, she had always cooked mild meals for Declan because of his weak stomach.
She raised an eyebrow and said calmly, “That is why I ordered you a vegetable dish and a custard pudding, is it not?”
‘When I asked you earlier, you said anything, and now you are being so picky. So hard to please,’ she complained in her heart.
Declan pressed his thin lips together, his eyes turning cold.
With every bite Phoebe took, Declan’s gaze grew even frostier.
A few minutes later, Phoebe sighed and set down her fork. She looked at Declan. “Just make do for today. Starting tomorrow, I will hire a maid to cook.”
Declan remained silent for a moment before reluctantly nodding.
After dinner, Phoebe cleaned up. Declan looked at her and said flatly, “I need to take a bath. You help me.”
Phoebe’s expression changed. She stared at him in disbelief. “Can you not do it yourself?”
Upon seeing the resistance and disdain in her eyes, Declan’s face darkened further. He spoke coldly, “Do you think I am in any condition to do it on my own?”
Phoebe pressed her lips together, hesitated for a moment, and reluctantly said, “Fine.”
She pushed Declan into the bathroom and then found herself in a dilemma.
“You can take off your own clothes, right? I will go fill the bathtub first.” She spoke quickly and turned her back to him as if afraid he would refuse, before hurrying to run the bathwater.
Ten minutes later, Phoebe turned around and saw that Declan had only removed his shirt. She frowned. “Why have you not taken off your pants?”
“I cannot do it myself. You help me,” Declan said.
Phoebe froze.

Had she known things would get this awkward, she would never have agreed to take care of him.
Seeing her motionless, Declan grew impatient. “You have already seen everything before. What is there to be shy about?”
Phoebe bit her lower lip and retorted stiffly, “Who said I was shy?”
A hint of amusement flickered in Declan’s eyes. He said casually, “If you are not shy, then hurry up and help me.”
Phoebe hesitated before slowly stepping closer. “How about I hire a male caregiver for you? I am not very good at helping people bathe. A man would be-”
Before she could finish, Declan grabbed her wrist. In the next second, he pulled her straight into his arms.
Phoebe gasped in shock and instinctively pressed her hands against his chest.
Upon feeling the powerful heartbeat beneath her palms and the tension in his muscular body, her face turned bright red.
Even though she and Declan had been married for three years, aside from that one time and their wedding night, they had barely had any sex.
When it came to sex, she was practically a blank slate.
Sensing her stiffness, Declan took her hand and guided it downward. His voice was slightly hoarse. “I will teach you.”
His palm was burning hot, and the warmth seemed to spread through her entire body, making her shiver involuntarily. Suddenly, she felt something cold against her hand.
Click. The buckle of Declan’s belt came undone. Phoebe’s heart skipped two beats.
“Help me take off my belt,” he said.
Phoebe sensed the growing tension between them and furrowed her brows.
