At that moment, his phone on the table suddenly started ringing
The name “Harriet danced on the screen, causing a slight change in Sebastian’s expression. Nonetheless, he swiped the screen to answer the call and placed the phone by his ear.
Harriet said something on the other end, and the expression on Sebastian’s expression subtly shifted from calm to serious, as if he had heard some earth–shattering news.
“What’s wrong?” Madelyn’s heart sank.
Given Sebastian’s typically composed nature, such a grim expression was rarely seen on his face. Judging by his demeanor, Madelyn surmised something must’ve happened.
Sure enough, Sebastian ended the call in the next second, instructing. “You’ll need to take a taxi to school on your own. Something’s up, and I have to go first.”
“Where are you going?” Madelyn instinctively grabbed him, her face filled with worry as she asked, “Is something wrong?”
Sebastian saw the worried look on her face and, not wanting her to fret, explained briefly, “I just received news from Ms. Moore. There’s been an issue with the company overseas. I need to make a business trip.”
He their comforted her by patting her head, his tone tender as he spoke. “Be good and wait for me at
home.”

Before Madelyn had the chance to ask further, the towering man hastily strode away.

Without hesitation, she immediately pulled out her phone and booked a flight. She also contact school to request leave. Then, she quickly ran upstairs to pack, getting ready to follow Sebastian.
She arrived in Rodunst four hours later. Due to the time difference, it was already nearing evening.

Sebastian would almost always stay at the same hotel whenever he visited Rodunst, which was the one they had stayed together during their last trip. Hence, Madelyn quickly located where Sebastian was staying.
However, by the time she arrived at the hotel, Sebastian had completely vanished without a trace.
Not only Sebastian, but even Wesley, Harriet, and Malcolm had all vanished without a trace. When Madelyn tried to reach them by phone, every call was met with the same result–their phones were all switched off.
The hotel’s front desk staff were also clueless about their whereabouts. All they knew was that after Sebastian and the others had checked in, they had driven off and had never returned.

The dial tone kept echoing endlessly, and as she waited for the person on the other end to pick up, she felt like a cat on a hot tin roof, anxious and impatient.
Fortunately, half a minute later, someone finally picked up the phone. A voice, incredibly languid yet pleasing to the car, asked, “Who is this?”

Madelyn swallowed nervously, seemingly hesitant to speak.
After some consideration, she mustered her courage and asked, “Phantom, do you have the authority to mobilize Oceanic Empire’s subordinates in Rodunst? I might need your help.”
Phantom didn’t hesitate for a moment and answered decisively, “No.”
Madelyn was at a loss for words.
Phantom holds such
a high position in Oceanic Empire. How could he not be able to mobilize his subordinates? Does he not want to help?
