I don’t need to upset anyone who works here
Finally, after a bit more aimless searching. I find the kitchen and Ethan He sinar a cable, aversended vers his breakfast. I want to mention the conversation I heard, but I hold back. There are the many;
want to upset anyone.
“Morning” I say softly, not wanting to disturb him
Ethan nods at me before looking back at his phone. Sighing 1 bite my lip and it next to him, anoure what to do. I don’t ne to wait long before a woman in a black dress brings me a plate of eggy and unagr
“Thank you.”
She smiles at my appreciation and walks away
“You should work at Silverclaw, if you’re looking for a job,” Erhan announces just as I take a bir sporter checking on the p I’m eating.
Once I’m not choking to death, I turn to him and tilt my head. He wants me to work at his company? A big waccesful company?
“I don’t have enough experience to work somewhere like the Silverclaw Company, I mutter, continuing to Id love guaranteed job, but what if I mess it up? Ethan would regret hiring me and probably drop me like a hot pours.
Ethan raises his eyes from his phone and pins them on me.
“You might not have experience, but you have your strengths,” he tells me. When I don’t respond, he sets his fork down straightens. “You’re ambitious and go after what you want without remorse. You have a sense of responsibility and morals which is something an employer always admires. You also connect well with others. I saw how your neighbors and the people around you, and being a people person is good for business.”
My jaw drops. The indifference he usually displays slips a bit as he speaks. He noticed all of that and bothered to remember it. A little sense of pride pinches my heart as he stares at me with a glimpse of respect.
“What jobs does your company have open? What would I be doing?” I ask. You’d think somewhere like the Silverclaw Company wouldn’t have any openings. They’re probably staffed with the best of the best. “I don’t need you to create something new for me. I want to get a job on my own merits.”
Ethan nods. “I expect nothing less and won’t carry you through a job. I’m not one to give things freely and help just anyone
He pauses to take a drink of his water, and before he can say anything else, I add, “I don’t want you to flirt with me during work hours and we shouldn’t reveal our relationship- sexual or otherwise- with anyone. I want to work to develop my

opportunity to grow myself and make my life better while I can.
When I look at Ethan again for his response, I find an irritated or maybe an upset expression darkening his face.
Ethan
Irritation creeps through me at her words. I’m not sure why the displeasure rears its head because I hate when women flirt with me at work and try to seduce me. Hearing Fiona say she doesn’t want to tell anyone about our relationship irks me though.
An annoying sinking feeling claws at my chest, and I try to push it away. Previous secretaries, like the one that just got fired, have always thrown themselves at me. It’s one reason many of them didn’t last very long. When I’m at work. I’m working. Nothing else.
I glance at Fiona briefly and watch as she eats the last of her breakfast.
My wolf grumbles in disapproval at the idea of Fiona pulling away from us. We can both sense it. Sometimes she’s fine with being close, but this morning her words, actions, and her attitude tell me she’s distancing herself.
“Never,” my wolf growls. “She is ours.”
I ignore him like I have been lately when he starts spouting nonsense. A little part of me agrees with him. Until I’m ready, she won’t be going anywhere. The pretty woman doesn’t realize what she’s getting into
Anyone with sense knows that working at my company can offer boundless and unlimited resources, so why is Fiona not tempted by this? Most people would be salivating at the offer, yet she argues and tries to set limitations on herself. I don’t like that she puts herself down, but I understand her need for independence
I admire that she wants to work her way up and build her skills, but she can do that in my company where I can watch over her.
She doesn’t
‘I want me to create a position for her? Well, I can deal with that. She’ll just stay with me as my secretary,
“Keep her close. She may run,” my wolf tells me, nipping at my mind. She doesn’t get to leave. She signed a year–long contract to be my woman. Even though it’s just sexual, I was serious about keeping the contract. One year and I’ll get her out of my system. After that year she can go do whatever she wants, work wherever she wants.
“I won’t allow you to distance yourself from me. I tell Fiona. She turns to me again and gives me a confused expression. “In fact, I have the perfect position for you I seem to find myself in need of a secretary because I fired mine for being a vulture.”
“Wait, shouldn’t I start in an entry–level position?” Fiona asks, her lips thinning into an angry line
I smirk. “There’s nothing wrong with starting as the CEO’s secretary. You’d be a good fit and I won’t have to worry about your behavior since you’ve set such strict boundaries,” I tell her. She watches me with wide eyes, and I have a feeling she’s trying to figure out if I’m serious or not.
“Fiona, I need a secretary, and I think you would be a good fit. I don’t want any arguments,” I state, and she shakes her head.
“Fine but remember what I said. I don’t want special treatment and no funny business,” she says, wagging her finger at me. I
nod
For now. I’ll give her what she wants.
