She then turned to Fiona and Jillian and advised, “Mrs. Lynch, you’re injured. You should rest well at the hospital. Jillian, you should stay here to take care of your mother and take some rest yourself. Tristan, help to keep an eye on them. Don’t let anyone take advantage of an opening again.”
Tristan nodded earnestly. “Don’t worry, I will.”
He then glanced at Jillian, his eyes brimming with affection.
Seeing that, Madelyn couldn’t help but chuckle. “It’s getting late,” she said. “Josiah and I will head back now. Mrs. Lynch, we’ll come visit tomorrow.”
“All right. thank you.” Fiona nodded in gratitude.
Following that. Madelyn and Josiah left the ward.
When they reached the lobby, Josiah suddenly slapped his forehead. “Oh right, I forgot your medicine!”
“I’ll go get it then,” Madelyn said, preparing to leave.

She headed straight to the hospital entrance to wait for Josiah.
At that moment, a brand new black Maybach pulled up at the entrance.
The driver got out of the car and opened the backseat door. Sebastian stepped out of the car immediately.
For a moment, their eyes locked onto each other’s.
Even though they had only been apart for a day, the moment he laid eyes on her, it felt as if a century had passed.

Following that, she asked with a straight face, “Ms. Thornton, I presume you’re here to see Christopher, aren’t you?”

Madelyn was baffled at her words. “Harriet, are you out of your mind? What business of mine is it to meddle with Christopher’s affairs?”
Harriet didn’t mince her words. “Stop pretending! Everyone knows that you’ve always had a soft spot for Christopher. Now that Christopher is here recovering from his injuries, isn’t it obvious that you came to see him?”
After she finished speaking, Harriet amusingly shook her head.
She then taunted, “Ms. Thornton, forgive my bluntness, but don’t you think you’re being a bit too much? You were so adamant about having Sebastian all to yourself before this, I suppose even you believed in those insincere promises, didn’t you? But what about now? You’ve shot yourself in the foot. Was it really necessary? You’ve been playing the innocent for so long, nearly fooling us all. But the moment Christopher appeared, you cast Sebastian aside. Your love for Christopher, it’s truly admirable!”
“Harriet, what nonsense are you spouting?”

As Madelyn watched the two recede into the distance, her heart gave a cruel lurch, followed by a surge of intense pain.

“Sebastian, even you don’t believe me?” Madelyn questioned, each word punctuated with a hint of disbelief.
