Chapter 369
Just as Jamie was about to leave, Soren suddenly spoke up. A moment, please, Mr. Young,”
I froze for a second and turned to him. What was he up to now?
“It’s getting late. Why don’t we have dinner together? My treat. I still haven’t properly thanked you for helping Taylor with her car last time,” Soren said in a composed, courteous tone that made it impossible to refuse.
Inside, I was seething.
The guy was actually following through on his promise from the seafood hotpot restaurant when he picked me up –and I had only been polite!
Jamie was momentarily stunned.
After a brief pause, he said, “It was nothing, really.”
“Well, you still need to eat, so we might as well have dinner together,” Soren insisted politely, extending the invitation once more before adding, “Of course, we won’t insist if you already have plans.”
Jamie glanced at me, but I couldn’t tell what he was thinking.
“I don’t have any plans,” he replied.
“Then let’s go.”
He nodded. “Thank you, Mr. Kenway.”
Jamie turned toward his office to grab his coat, while I looked at Soren with a puzzled expression.
“What are you up to now? Why the sudden dinner invitation?” I asked.
Soren walked over, tucked my loose hair behind my ear, and gently stroked it.
With a faint smile, he said, “It’s the weekend, and he’s been working overtime for you. As his employer, it’s only right that you buy him dinner.
“Besides, he helped you with your car last time, and I promised to treat him when I had the chance. This opportunity couldn’t have come any better.”
“Please! As if I’d believe that. You’re clearly trying to show off!” I accused him without hesitation.
Soren chuckled and brushed the back of his hand against my cheek as if I were a pet. “Ah… you’ve figured it out, eh? I’m guessing Mr. Young has noticed it too?”
“You think? As if he’s blind or stupid!” After retorting, I pulled my hand away and asked, “Also, why are you always so handsy?!”
“Because you look too tempting. Just seeing you makes me want to reach out and touch you,” he replied.
What kind of explanation was that?
I shot him a warning glare. “You’d better behave yourself later–no funny business, understand? I’m still his boss, and I need to maintain some dignity in front of my employees.”
“Okay.”
Since we had already invited Jamie, there was no backing out. I could only remind Soren to act normally and avoid causing trouble.

Chapter 369
Unfortunately, the mischievous glint in his eyes suggested he wouldn’t behave.
Soren had chosen the restaurant–our usual seafood hotpot spot.
I gave him a speechless look upon hearing our destination, thinking his pettiness might qualify for a Guinness World Record.
While we were on our way, Jean called.
“Finally! You’re picking up your phone and making some calls!” I teased as I answered.
Jean sighed. “Don’t even get me started… I’ve been swamped these past few days. Are you free now?”
I knew what she meant and reassured her, “Don’t worry, I’ll always have time for you.”
“Did the Kennedys give you any trouble since you sent Edith back to prison again?”
“No, they haven’t. Edward probably realized that chasing after me is pointless.” After all, Edith had offended Soren, not me that time.
“Soren is such a badass!” Jean exclaimed gleefully before quickly changing the subject. “So, how did it go meeting the Kenway family today?”
Since Soren was right next to me, I hesitated. “We’ll talk about that later. It’s complicated.”
“Complicated? What do you mean? Aren’t they willing to accept you into their family?”
“Well… not exactly. Anyway, I’m heading to dinner now, so let’s talk later.”
