The alcohol in my system continued to take effect, making me feel woozy until I finally drifted into a deep sleep.
I was out cold–I didn’t even hear my phone ring twice. It wasn’t until someone started banging on my door that I finally woke up.
Still groggy, I checked the time. It was already midnight.
I couldn’t understand why someone would be banging on my door when we had the afternoon off and no need to wake up early.
When I opened the door, Cherry and Sean were standing there. Both of them let out a breath of relief the moment they saw me.
“Thank goodness you’re alright, Tay–Tay. Mr. Kenway thought something had happened to you. When you didn’t answer his calls, he immediately asked Sean and me to come check on you,” Cherry said.
They looked visibly relieved.
Cherry gave me a quick once–over before adding, “We were both really worried.”
My mind was still foggy, but it was beginning to clear, “I’m okay. I just had a little alcohol at lunch and didn’t expect it to hit me so hard. You two should go back and rest. I’ll call him and let him know I’m fine.”
“Alright. Call me if you need anything,” Cherry said gently as she turned to leave with Sean
Back inside, I grabbed my phone and checked the time difference. It was past midnight back home, but since it was the Brigidlia Festival, he was probably still awake.
I quickly dialed his number.
“Hello!” Soren answered, clearly anxious. “What happened? I called you five times and you didn’t answer… I thought something happened to you.”
“Sorry,” I said quickly. “I had some drinks at lunch and underestimated how strong they were. I passed out right after I got back to my room, right after we talked.”
Worried he might be upset, I added sweetly, “I’m really sorry. I’ll let you know before I go to bed next time, so you won’t worry.”
Instead of scolding me, Soren asked gently, “Are you having trouble sleeping again since you got there?”
Once, not long after we started dating, he’d visited my place and found my sleeping pills. That discovery led to a serious talk, where I admitted I had occasional insomnia.
He hadn’t liked it. His brow had furrowed with concern, and he’d urged me to change my mindset instead of relying on medication.
He’d been right, and after that conversation, I did try to stop depending on them.
“Yeah. I’m having a little trouble getting used to the bed here,” I admitted.
“But I felt better after 1 finally managed to fall asleep,” I quickly added, worried he’d get too concerned and insist on coming to Medhelanon again.
se line before he said, for the third time now, “I don’t have much going on right now.
There was a brief pause on the
I should come keep you company.”

“Taylor,” he interrupted, his tone slightly annoyed. “Can’t you just think of it as a vacation for me?”
I fell silent, gripping the phone tightly.
Soren realized he’d come off a little too harsh and softened his tone. “I’m not mad at you. And I know what you’re thinking—you’re worried my family will disapprove if I fly overseas during the festival. But relax, I’m an adult. ! can make my own decisions.”
I sighed softly, resigned.
Knowing I wouldn’t be able to talk him out of it, I gave in. Fine, I’ll wait for you.”
“I’ll send you the flight details once I book the ticket.”
After we ended the call, I sank back onto the bed and glanced at the missed calls–all from him. He must’ve been seriously worried.
At this point, I figured I might as well let him come if that would put his mind at ease.
Later that day, he sent me his flight details.
His flight was scheduled for the afternoon of the next day. It was nearly a thirteen–hour flight, which meant he’d be landing right as my show began.
I was definitely going to be busy by then….
Still, I couldn’t wait for him to finally see my designs with his own eyes.
