Chapter 389
Seconds felt like days ever since Soren decided to come to me.
But what truly caught me off guard was that lean arrived before he did!
I even doubted my eyes when I saw her walk into my hotel,
“Hello, my dear!” jean greeted me with a booming laugh. What’s the matter? Don’t recognize me anymore? Your show starts tomorrow, right? I haven’t missed it, have 17”
It wasn’t until I heard her laughter that I was sure–my best friend had actually come to visit me.
I rushed over and slapped her arms in disbelief, my eyes wide. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?! Shouldn’t you be at home with your aunt and uncle instead?!”
I pulled her into a tight hug, lifting her off the ground with so much joy that I felt like I could fly.
“I’ve been spending time with them every day. It’s not like have to stay just for the festival. Besides, they always try to set me up on blind dates around this time. It’s really annoying.
“As such, I booked my flights early and told them I was going to Medhelanon for a vacation. I’ll be here for a few days, so I can catch the fashion show while I’m at it!”
Jean’s smile tumed sly, her brows raised. She looped her arm through mine and asked, “Surprised?”
“Of course I am!”
Once the excitement settled, I asked, “Have you booked a room? It’s peak season right now, and rooms aren’t exactly easy to find.”
“Don’t even get me started. I couldn’t get one tonight. My mom won’t be ready till tomorrow, so I figured I’d crash with you.” Jean grabbed my arm with one hand and her suitcase with the other. “Come on, let’s go upstairs, I’m exhausted and need sleep.”
As she pulled me along, I hesitated.
Jean noticed. She turned and asked, “What’s with that look? You look like you’re constipated.”
I glared at her. “You’re the one with constipation!”
Near the elevator, I finally said, troubled, “Um…. Unfortunately for you… if everything’s gone according to plan, Soren should be arriving today too…”
“What?!” Jean stared at me, stunned.
I thought she’d be disappointed, and I even considered asking Cherry for advice.
Before I could sort out my thoughts, Jean leaned in close and teased, “Wait! What’s going on? Is he coming to stay with you? Since when did you two cross that line? Why didn’t I know about this?!”
And that’s when it hit me.
She’s right!
Why did I assume Soren would be staying with me?
It’s not like we’ve been physical yet. Even if we had, he could easily book himself a presidential suite with his status and wealth.

Why would he want to stay in my tiny, ordinary room?
“Hello? Earth to Taylor? Did you two actually do it already Jean nudged me, clearly not done being nosy.
1 snapped out of it and yanked her into the elevator just as arrived.
We kept talking—the other guests didn’t understand English anyway.
“No, he’s been really respectful. He said he wouldn’t cross any lines until I was completely ready,” I said, doing my best to defend Soren’s image.
Jean chuckled.
“Why are you laughing?”
“You’ve already talked about it seriously, which means youve at least thought about it. Even if nothing happened, you two are already close!”
“Jean! Seriously?!” My face burned–I wanted to cover her mouth.
She kept laughing. “Please… We’re adults. No need to be shy.”
She strolled out of the elevator, dragging her luggage behind her, completely shameless.
“In any case, I’m staying in your room tonight. I’ve got nowhere else to go. Honestly, I’m curious to see who you’ll choose your best friend or your boyfriend.”
I pretended to strangle her and gritted my teeth. “You, you, you… Of course I choose you! You came all this way just to see me–how could I not?!”
