“As expected, Soren’s lips curled into a knowing smile.
I added, “You deliberately refused to accept the handkerchief I returned, didn’t you?”
He simply smiled shyly–a confession as clear as any.
“See? That means you’ve already given me a love token. You don’t need to give me another.”
“A handkerchief isn’t worth much.”
“That’s because it’s not the handkerchief that matters. It’s the heart and the feelings behind it. You’ve never forgotten me over the years. That determination and faith are priceless. Nothing is more precious than that,” I replied.

Soren let out a long sigh.
“You’re the most stubborn woman I’ve ever met,” he said, both helpless and affectionate.
“I prefer to call it being principled,” I quipped, setting my utensils down and wiping my lips with a napkin. “We can exchange gifts now that we’re together, but the debt from before all this started shouldn’t just disappear.”
I had said this before, but I was reiterating it.
I took my phone and transferred the money to him.
“Check your phone. Did you get it? It’s less than a million, but as my company grows, I’m sure my paycheck will too,” I said.
I had a lot of faith in my company.
Soren nodded. “Great. I won’t have to work so hard once you’re rich.”
“Ha! Maybe I’ll be the one supporting you by then!”
Just then, my phone rang.
I checked the screen and chuckled. “It’s Jeannie. She must be bored.”
I answered the call. “Hello?”
“Are you done yet? Or are you going to work through the night?!” she groaned.
“I finished a while ago. I’m just…” I trailed off, my gaze lingering on the man across from me.
Embarrassment and a bit of shyness crept in. “Um, well, Soren is here. We’re dining together.”
“You what?! And you didn’t wonder if your best friend was Hungry as well?!” Jean protested. “How dare you, Taylor?! How dare you put mister before sister! I flew halfway across the world to support your show in person!”
I knew she was joking, so I laughed and let her finish before replying, “Now, now. I didn’t forget you. I was planning to bring something back for you, Princess.”

The hotel was only about 10 minutes away from the restaurant.
Soren waved down the waiter for the bill and picked up the food I’d packed for Jean. He motioned toward the exit.
I stood up, and he extended his hand, as usual.

“Ooh, scary. See you,” I said with a smirk.
Atter ending the call, he turned to me, his gaze steady. “Any plans for the night?”
“What plans could I possibly have?”
There was something in his eyes that sent a jolt through my Something… sensual.
I suddenly realized I shouldn’t answer any more of his questions. He was asking because he was hoping we’d sleep together!
But I would be busy all day tomorrow! I couldn’t risk being exhausted tonight!
The air between us suddenly grew thick with tension. We said nothing during the ride to the hotel.
Once we arrived, Sean carried his suitcase as I stood by the car with Jean’s food, unsure of what to do.
He grabbed his suitcase and walked toward me.
I swallowed hard “Y–You’re not staying at this hotel too, right?”
