When Widi said that. Yvonne glanced over her shoulder at the still–open door, then looked up at Widi without saying a word. Instead, she reached out her little hand, gave Widi’s sleeve a gentle tug, and started leading her away.

They walked a few steps before Yvonne stopped and stood on her tiptoes, clearly trying to tell her something. With picked up on it and crouched down
Yvonne leaned in, her voice soft and her breath warm Widi’s ear. Actually, brothers told me to come find you
So it turned out her brothers weren’t totally useless, just when it came to her. That thought stung a little more than she expected
Widi blinked, surprised for a second, then let out a quiet breath. “Wait… you guys heard all that?
Yvonne nodded, totally serious. “We did. But I didn’t get it”
Widi hesitated. “Are they still here?”
“Yeah! I’ll take you to them. Wonne said, already turning
Widi stood up and followed her. Behind them. Teresa stepped out of the room, frowning as she watched the girls disappear around the corner.
Something about it didn’t sit right. That kid showed up exactly then, and the door had been open the whole time.
She hadn’t said anything too out of line, at least, she hoped not, but if Richard caught wind of it, she would be in trouble.
Hopefully the kid hadn’t picked up on anything… or if she did, maybe she would forget all about it.
Still, one thing bugged her. When did Widi and that little girl get so close? Candles? Really?
Instead of heading to the lobby to find her husband, Teresa doubled back and found the hotel manager.
After a few quick questions, she was told that yes, Widi and Yvonne had spent the whole morning together making candles.
That was enough to settle her nerves, Just a coincidence, then.
Outside the art gallery, Widi’s so–called unreliable brothers were still waiting
And when she finally walked up to them, neither said a word about what had just happened.
They greeted her like everything was totally normal and scooped Yvonne up without missing a beat. If Widi hadn’t already known from Yvonne, she would’ve thought they didn’t hear a thing.
It felt a little off, and she was still deciding how to bring it up when Jeremy spoke.
“So, this is the candle thing, huh?” He nodded toward the entrance.
“Yep,” Widi said, following his gaze. “You two going in or just lurking around out here?”
“I gotta check out what’s got Yvonne so hooked. What is this thing? It’s more interesting than me?”
He stared at the thing in his hand for a second before shrugging. “Looks kinda lame, honestly.”
Just then, Yvonne, clearly having the time of her life, held up a tomato–shaped ceramic jar and grinned. “I made this for
you!”

Jeremy, who just a second ago looked completely unimpressed, immediately took it back. Clearly, this wasn’t boring at all, candle–making was suddenly amazing.
He looked like he was about to cry tears of joy, until Yvonne added, very seriously,” But you can’t eat it.”
Widi snorted. Those words weren’t exactly savage, but somehow, they stung.
Judging by the dumbfounded look on Jeremy’s face, the hit landed. She couldn’t hold back a laugh.
Honestly, the way he had been eyeing that candle, it really did look like he was gonna take a bite. No wonder Yvonne gave him the warning.
“What’s so funny, Widi?” he asked, still stuck on the whole “don’t eat it” thing.
“You’re out here calling it boring, but now you’re obsessed. Let me laugh,” she said.
Jeremy didn’t even argue. He went over to Yvonne, but she was deep in candle–mode and barely acknowledged him.

If he had even half a spark of interest in this kind of thing, he would probably be over there too, trying to mold a candle or whatever.
However, he didn’t, so he just hovered nearby, killing time, tossing comments here and there.
Meanwhile, everyone else was fully into it, completely zoned in.
Jeremy had barely been at it for ten minutes and was already struggling to stay awake. This kind of quiet, crafty stuff just wasn’t his thing, he was way more into running around outdoors.
After some coaxing from Yvonne, he finally gave candle–making a shot.
But it didn’t take long before he gave up and started trying to talk everyone into leaving. “You guys have made so many already. Come on, let’s go do something else. This place is too boring.”
No one responded. Everyone stayed locked in on their candles like he hadn’t even spoken.
Jeremy didn’t want to go off by himself. That was no fun. But sitting here staring at wax and wicks was torture. He didn’t even have his phone with him.
One of his cousins offered to let him borrow hers, but he shut that down immediately. So, left with nothing better to do, he kept looking for some kind of excuse to dip.
Then his eyes landed on Widi’s outfit. Bingo. “Widi, you haven’t changed your clothes yet,” he said, like he’d just discovered gold. “Aren’t you gonna change?”
Finally, a legit reason to leave.
The moment Widi paused, Jeremy jumped to his feet like someone had just hit his start button. “Let’s go, let’s go! You need to change, remember why we’re even here today?”
Widi gave him a long look, unimpressed. The way he was grinning, he wasn’t even trying to hide how thrilled he was to escape.
But she didn’t argue. She just turned to explain things to Yvonne.
The little girl looked a bit bummed but stopped too. She had already learned how to make candles anyway. Next time, she could bring Anna along. It was one more fun thing for them to do together.
Vic didn’t say anything. He was just here to keep an eye on the kid. Whatever Yvonne wanted to do, he was down for it. He was easygoing like that, could find fun in pretty much anything.
