Chapter 144
Today happened to be the day of the SkyCyan Auction House’s sale
Spencer and Jamie entered their exclusive private room, also there to join in the exiliemeni
buside, it was just Janie and Spencer. The door was locked securely, and Janie naturally curled up in Spencer’s arms.

She yawned, lazily sinking into Spencer’s arms. Spencer absentmindedly stroked her hair.
Even though the noise outside was loud, the soundproofing was excellent, so it didn’t disturb Janie at all.
She felt completely at ease in Spencer’s arms, and before long, she was fast asleep.
Noticing this. Spencer gently lifted her and carefully laid her down on a soft couch nearby, covering her with a blanket.
Spencer gazed quietly at her peaceful, soft sleeping face, his lips involuntarily curving into a smile as his eyes softened. He placed a light kiss on her forehead. Unable to resist, he kissed her cheek and lips too.
Not wanting to disturb her, Spencer silently returned to his spot.
When Janie woke up, she found Spencer handling some business. She held her breath, watching him quietly.
Spencer was always so busy, but when he was with her, he somehow seemed so relaxed, always focused on spending time
with her.
Janie’s lips couldn’t help but curve upward.
The moment she woke up. Spencer knew. Janie knew that he knew, but she still tried to stay as quiet as possible, not wanting to disturb him.
Spencer set down the book in his hands and looked at her. “Awake? Do you want to rest some more?”

Janie mumbled, “It’s fine. Has the auction ended?”
Spencer raised an eyebrow. “Do you want to watch?”

She looked up at Spencer and stretched her arms out. Spencer immediately understood what she meant. He fought a smile and carefully picked her up.

They returned to the Hall of Justice. The Night Guards were there, standing at attention, waiting to greet them. Eighteen of them, all looking sharp and smiling brightly.
They were dressed neatly, their hair impeccably styled, and the bruises on their faces had almost disappeared. They looked every bit the handsome men they were.
No one would ever associate them with their previous, disheveled selves. In unison, they called out, “Hello, Miss Janie, Mr. Alvarez.
Janie nodded in satisfaction. “Hey, you handsome guys!”
The Night Guards grinned widely, clearly pleased by Janie’s compliment.
Spencer looked a little displeased. He didn’t want to admit that these goofy guys were the elite of the Hall of Justice, his trusted subordinates.
The Night Guards were skilled at reading Spencer’s moods and immediately understood his disapproval, but they didn’t mind.
As long as they could win Janie’s favor and trust, Spencer’s opinion didn’t matter. In the end, Spencer would be happy, and he would come to accept them.
They already knew that Spencer’s thoughts were secondary to Janie’s.
Sensing the Night Guards‘ thoughts, Spencer felt a bit helpless, though he was content. “That’s how it should be, he wondered.
Daniel, ever eager, spoke up. “Miss Janie, I’ve been studying a lot of dishes lately. If you have time, you should try them.”
Janie hadn’t expected the conversation to take such a turn, but it was exactly what she liked.

The other Night Guards muttered under their breath, cursing Daniel for being shameless and sycophantic. Yet they gave Janie an even more eager smile than his.

The Night Guards smiles grew even brighter.
Janie glanced at Spencer and then smiled. “Alright. I know it’s because I’m so easygoing, and Mr. Alvarez is so fierce, that you’re all more afraid of him”
The Night Guards had no words. Spencer was aloof, and the truth was, they were more afraid of Janie.
Her position was so lony that even Spencer deferred to her. Of course, they genuinely respected and admired her

Janie was immediately charmed by his handsome face. She adopted a serious expression. “Am I wrong?”
