EMMA.

Am I overthinking things,

“Emma!” I have no time to ponder over Will’s odd attitude or tend to the ache in my chest as my name is yelled and Elijah, who stands next to me, Taps my shoulder.
As 1 look around, I realize all eyes are on me, and I swallow before stepping forward.
*Since I’m in charge of overseeing the training today, some of you would change sparring partners.” Rio states, and his words send a feeling of uneasiness through me–especially when he holds my gaze as his mouth curls in a smirk.
“Emma would go first,” He says and my heart skips a beat. There’s silence from the rest of the trainees as we wait for who would be my sparring partner and my lips part in shock when Rio says, “Against Anna.”
“What?” Blanca speaks for me. “She can’t go against Anna? She just began training. Anna is
How do you expect her to improve if she doesn’t train against the highly skilled ones?” Rio crosses his arms to his chest with one brow lifted in Bianca’s direction, and she frowns. “She could improve without the need to pair her with warriors of years. Beta Ryan always ensures-
“Well, beta Ryan isn’t here today!” He snaps, cuting the rest of her words. “I am in charge. You heard the Alpha, didn’t your Now stop creating a soche and stand back”
She doesn’t listen. Instead, she remains out of line as she glares pointedly at him and Rio’s arms fall from his chest. He closes the distance between them, lowering over Blanca as he growls. “I said Stand. The Fuck. Back”
Elijah is stepping forward when I hästen. “Blanca,” I call, and when she looks in my direction. I shake my head. “Don’t
“But you are same levels.
she starts to say and I throw her a gentle smile. “He’s right. I won’t truly improve if I keep sparring with the same people, at the
Bianca throws a glance at Rio before she crosses to me and she pushes back my shoulder before leaning in to whisper, “You know he’s doing this intentionally, don’t you?”
“I do.” I mumble as I look over her shoulder to where Rio stands. He’s got a nasty look in his eyes as he watches us.
“And you’re lening him!”
I look back at the redhead before me and smirk. Tim proving him wrong
Bianca chuckles. “Babe, I love the confidence, but you know you can’t defeat Anna, right? She’s one of the strongest female warriors we have in the moment, and she’s been to more bartles than anyone else who stands here.”
“More experience for me then.” I wink and when she sighs, I slap her arm gently. “Tl be alright. It’s not like we’re fighting to the death.”
“Fine. Just be careful and give in if it gets too intense. You don’t always have to be a winner.” I nod to her words and she walks back to the other end of the field, falling back into line.
“Now that they’re done wasting our time, Anna, darling. Please step out.” I hold my breath as Anna steps out of the line. I gulp at the anxiousness. that slams into me as my eyes go down her build and Goddess–Anna is ripped for a woman.
Weeks ago, she’d easily take me out with just a slam of her shoulder into my face, but that was weeks ago, I’m not the person I was then. I didn’t train hard just to back out every time I’m challenged by someone who look like they could easily defeat me
Anna doesn’t smile as she takes a stance, and our eyes lock. I can hear her growl from here as Rio steps in the middle. He looks to her before turning his gaze on me and I can tell he’s having a field day with this by the wicked glint I see in his eyes as he starts the match before stepping
bark
I have no time to prepare because Anna surges forward the second Rio falls back and my eyes widen when I see her hand swings in the air. Before it cân hit me. I slide through the space of her arm, making it to the other side.
“Yes, baby? That’s my fucking girl!”
My heart is pouring in my chest as I rise back to my feet and Anna’s angry eyes lock with mine when she turns back. She’s coming at me again; faster on her feet this time, but instead of colliding with her, I take a page out of Bianca’s book and quickly swerve to the side, dodging her attack
“Yes! Did you see that? Did you see that? God.

stir back, ignoring the discomfort in my leg as I ready for her next attack. Anna snaps her head sideways, the sound reaching my ears and a low growl reverberates from her chest as she lunges at me again. I try to glide through the space of her legs, but she’s caught onto that trick, and I gasp when she catches me with a hand wrapped around my throat. I choke against her bold as she drags me across the ground, my back grating agains the light bumps on the floor.
She goes on for seconds before she lits my body from the ground and when she brings me to the air; I know exactly the move she’d pull so before she can crash my back. I swiftly flip her hold on me, throwing my legs around her night shoulder. The move forces her grip on my neck to loosen and I use that to my advantage: flipping in the air as I trap her shoulder with my legs.
I bring her to the ground with me and I’m only able to hold her for exactly ten seconds before she yanks me off I rise to my feet and rush back, sweat dripping from my forehead down my face as I watch Anna tend to her shoulder on the floor, her face twisted in pain.
“That’s it. baby! That’s fucking it.” I look back to smile at Bianca’s cheer and the excitement only lasts a second before her expression changes, eyes. widening. My head turns to see what’s caused it and a loud exhale leaves me, my heart thundering when I see Anna shifting
“What the fuck? Won’t you stop this! She won fair and square”
“she only had her on one knee–I don’t think that counts as a win,
Anna’s wolf is huge. And large. Her wolf is grey, and her eyes.
eyes are green with a mix of blue. She stands tall, her white tail waving in the air as she scrapes the claws of her paws against the floor. Her fangs come into view, the canines baring as the locks her vision on her prey–me.
I tumble back, my steps unbalanced, and a shudder of fear spasms through me.
“Emma” Emma get out of there” 1 hear Elgah holler at me from behind, but my eyes are latched on Anna’s wolf and I can’t look away. I keep moving backward, the sound of my shallow breathing filling the air around and as she throws herself into the air, I yelp and trip over my fret
I continue to crawl back with both hands, and Anna is so close now. She throws her right paw in the front and just a second before she crushes me, another wolf appears in front of me. It’s Bianca’s, and she throws her head in the air, flinging Anna back before she grabs me off the floor with her teeth and tosses me on her back
I look around to see some others have also shifted, and Elijah sprints to our side just before Bianca takes off
“What’s going on?” Lask him as he removes his shirt and parts hurriedly. He leaves them with me, remaining in only his undergarments. “The border. There was an attack and Beta said they need more warriors”
The bordert The Alpha. Goddess, Will!
Elijah shifts before Bianca joins the race and 1 have no time to enjoy my first time being on a wolf’s back as the thoughts of him occupy my mind. He’s strong, and he’s the Alpha. He’d of no doubt be alright and protected, yet I can’t help the concern that claws at my mind, my impatience only growing stronger as Bianca rushes through the woods.
We arrive after what feels like forever, and I jump of Bianca’s back. My eyes scan the surroundings and some injured wolves are purring on the ground. I stalk forward as I search for him and my heart slams against my ribcages when I see him fighting off. a monster.
