gon with Dr. Hemming”
Calvin Parker, Johnathon’s assistant, looked just as confused. “No idea. It happened so fast?
The director couldn’t help but speculate, “Did something happen with his family?”
Calvin fell silent. During the five years he’d worked with Johnathon, he could barely recall him ever talking to his family Jolmathon kept to himself, lived simply, and always seemed like someone from a completely different world.
Meanwhile, Camila sat on a bench in the hospital, zoning out, When she finally checked the time, she picked up

His eyes, brooding and enchanting, swept over her
er with polite concern. “Not feeling well?”
“Yes” She nodded. But then she quickly added, “But also no,”
“What do you mean?” Johnathon asked.
“I came to get my hand checked out, Camila explained. “But there were too many people. The waitlist is forever.”
He raised a brow. “You trying to see Dr. Quilter?”
Camila looked up, surprised. “How’d you know?”
‘I could smell the herbal medicine on you,” he said matter–of–factly. “So I figured you must’ve stopped by the Traditional Medicine Center. And here, the busiest and most sought–after doctor in that department’s Dr. Quilter,
Camila gasped. “You’re seriously observant.”
Johnathon gave a faint smile but didn’t respond. Then he looked her straight in the eye. “If you don’t mind, come with me.”
Camila looked puzzled. “What?”
“I’m pulling a few strings for you.” Johnathon said.
Camila froze. Then, Johnathon led her through the staff corridor, straight up to the fifth floor of the Department of Traditional Medicine. He stopped outside an office, knocked gently, and called out politely, “Dr. Quilter?”
Andreas Quilter looked like the picture of an old–school sage–slightly thin, with a scholarly air about him. When he saw Johnathon at the door, he was a bit surprised. “Dr. Hemming! What brings you here?”
