Chapter 3
Using Luna’s identity, I contacted several of the Council’s Elders and explain my situation to them, a few days later–
As dusk settled, the Pack’s council hall was enveloped in silence, broken only by the flickering candlelight casting shadows on the stone walls and the solemn faces of the elders.
The atmosphere was heavier than usual, all eyes fixed on the she–wolf standing at the center–me,Selene, the Pack’s once–promising future, the she–wolf Alpha Keal had once loved deeply.
Alpha Keal sat on the high seat, his eyes filled with regret. He kept his head lowered, unwilling to meet my piercing gray gaze.

Though the gathering revolved around the two of them, tension thickened with the arrival of an unexpected guest.
“Elder Martha Zhang, what are your thoughts?” Alpha Keal asked quietly.
Just then, a soft cough came from the elders‘ seats. Elder Martha Zhang lifted my head slowly, her sharp eyes sweeping over the crowd before settling on me. Her gaze was deep and wise, as if she could see through every lie and deception.
“I’ve seen the truth,” Martha Zhang’s voice was calm but carried undeniable authority. “Alpha Keal, you didn’t just lose her. You lost your fated mate.”
“Elder, what do you mean?” Alpha Keal’s heart lurched as he looked up, confusion etched on his face.

“She is a white wolf,” Martha Zhang declared, her voice ringing like thunder through the hall.
“What?” Alpha Keal froze. The white wolf bloodline–one of the most revered among werewolves, a sign of destined mates. Every white wolf’s true partner would recognize them without fail. Yet, he had never realized my true heritage.
“You were unaware of her lineage?” Martha Zhang’s voice turned icy with disbelief. “Not only did you betray her, you missed your chance at a shared destiny. How could you be so blind?”
Alpha Keal’s heart felt as though it had been struck by a hammer. My gaze turned colder still. He took a step toward me, unable to stop himself.

“Selene..” His voice was low, pained. “Forgive me. I failed to recognize you.”
“Recognize me?” I let out a humorless laugh, my silver–tinged eyes gleaming. “Do you think groveling now will undo everything? I see clearly–you never truly cared.”
“No, Selene, I–I regret it deeply” Alpha Keal’s voice was desperate. “I was blinded by Vivian. I thought…”
“You thought what?” I cut him off sharply. “That Vivian was your fated mate? That she was meant to stand where I did?”
My words were daggers to his heart. Alpha Keal’s hands clenched into fists, but he found no words to defend himself.
“Vivian’s visions were lies,” Elder Martha

Zhang interjected, disdain lacing her tone. “She never had the gift of foresight. She manipulated you with coincidences, feeding your doubts and twisting the truth.”
“Impossible!” Alpha Keal’s head snapped up, anger and disbelief warring in his eyes. “Vivian told me she saw our future–that we were destined!”
“Foolish, Martha Zhang scoffed. “Vivian’s ‘visions‘ were nothing but her own desires masquerading as prophecy. You let yourself be deceived, Alpha Keal. Does that not shame you?”
Alpha Keal’s chest tightened painfully. He turned to Vivian, who stood to the side, her expression unreadable.
Vivian’s face remained composed, but a flicker of triumph shone in her eyes. Her lips

curled slightly, as if she had already won.
“You’re nothing but a deluded she–wolf” I said coldly, my voice dripping with contempt.
“Excuse me?” Vivian finally spoke, her voice sharp as a blade. “You think I fear you?”
“Fear me?” my laugh was soft but chilling. “You’re just a pawn–a trap set to cloud Alpha Keal’s judgment. You used false prophecies to manipulate him, and now this farce is over.”
“Enough!” Alpha Keal roared, his voice raw with anguish. “I’ve made mistakes, but you two are worse!”
He dropped to his knees, gripping my dress with trembling hands. “Selene, please. I know I wronged you. I hurt you. I’ll spend my life regretting it.”

I stared down at him, my gaze unyielding. Slowly, I reached out, tilting his face up to meet my eyes.
“Forgive you?” My voice was quiet, deadly. “What can you possibly offer me in return? I thought you were my destiny. But you’ve shown me the truth–my true mate was never you.”
“No, Selene,” Alpha Keal’s tears fell freely now. “You’re the only one for me. I can’t lose you!”
“You’ve lost more than just me,” I said coldly. “You’ve lost my trust.” I took a step back, my voice clear and final.
“I, Selene, reject you, Alpha Keal, as my mate.”

“You–you’re divorcing me?” Alpha Keal’s eyes widened in horror.
“I’m leaving you nothing” I said, my voice devoid of emotion. “You were once my love. Now, you’re just my past.”
She turned and walked away without a backward glance, leaving Alpha Keal kneeling on the floor, the weight of the Pack’s stares heavy upon him.
Vivian smirked, satisfaction curling in my chest as she watched Alpha Keal’s devastation. But she knew–this game wasn’t over yet. It wasn’t enough to drive away Selene.
Actually, Vivian,a stupid she–wolf, forgot that
