Chapter 14 Abs And The Adonis Belt
Over the years, he was tormented by illness to the brink of breaking down. If it weren’t for his strong will, coupled with the support of medication, he would have lost his life long ago. Experiencing an unprecedented sense of relief both physically and emotionally was simply unprecedented.
however, at that moment, he felt a strange sensation surge within him. This sense of comfort like as if the poison in his body had been neutralized, restoring him to his normal state.
“That’s it.” With that, Gabrielle retracted her hand.
She turned and walked to the side, turning the faucet to wash her hands. Then, she turned around to look down at him.
Her beautiful eyes met his deep, dark gaze. Her attention was drawn to his bare upper body, where she could vaguely make out his ripped abs and Adonis belt. The bath towel he wore merely covered him below the hips.
“Cough, cough.” Gabrielle froze, her usually composed face now tinted with a pinkish hue.
She quickly turned her head away, withdrawing her gaze. The atmosphere in the bathroom felt incredibly sensual, causing her to hastily make her way out in a slightly disoriented manner.
“It’s getting late. I have to film a variety show tomorrow morning, so I should head back to my room,” Gabrielle said softly as she made her way out.
Just as she reached the door, she heard Jonathan’s husky voice echo, “Wait.”
“Hmm?” Gabrielle paused, looking at him quizzically..
When Jonathan turned around and look at her, she noticed his gaze shifting past her toward the direction of the coffee table in the bedroom. He spoke in a deep voice. “Charles has already opened a safety deposit box at the bank this afternoon. The bride price has been stored inside. The key to the safe and your ID card are on the table,” Jonathan explained.
Gabrielle followed his gaze, noticing her ID card and a key laying on the table. She quickly stepped forward to retrieve them.
“Take the key. It’s for you,” Jonathan said without turning around, as if he had guessed that she hadn’t picked them up yet.
Gabrielle was about to leave when his words left her stunned.
She never intended to accept the bride price in the first place. Her decision to have them removed was merely to avoid benefiting the Seavers family. A month later, if Jonathan was still alive, she planned to

Therefore, she planned to return everything to him when the time came.
“Alright.” Gabrielle didn’t say anything more. She picked up the key and walked out.
Inside the bathroom, Jonathan’s dark eyes subtly deepened as he lowered his gaze to the area below his neck. There, traces of where her fingertips had just grazed were etched.
“So, is this the acupressure technique?” Jonathan wondered out loud.
When he learned from Michael that morning that the method she used was acupressure, he was somewhat taken aback. He hadn’t expected such a technique to be capable of suppressing toxins.
The Gabrielle then was different from what Jonathan had imagined.
Initially, it was assumed that she was by the Seavers family to covet the Zechman family’s wealth and power. Unexpectedly, she remained aloof and kept her distance, even engaging him firmly, showing no fear.
“Interesting,” Jonathan remarked before wiping off the fresh blood from the corner of his mouth. He then put on a bathrobe and stepped out of the bathtub.
Upon receiving a call from Keiran, Michael rushed over immediately, only to see Jonathan heading out in a bathrobe.
The bathrobe was loosely tied around Jonathan. Michael’s gaze the fell upon Jonathan’s neck, trailing downward.
“Let me see, let me see,” said Michael, his face filled with anticipation.
He strode forward, gripping Jonathan’s bathrobe and yanking it forcefully. The scratch marks left on the latter’s chest came into view, connected to the marks on his neck.
“I never expected it to be like this,” said Michael, his hands trembling with excitement.
Jonathan firmly grasped Michael’s hand and pushed it away, adjusting his bathrobe properly. His dark eyes shot Michael a look as he said in a deep voice, “Is it the acupressure technique that you mentioned again?”
“Exactly! What a surprise. First, it started from your chest, now it’s tracing down from your neck. Fascinating! Where’s your wife? I want to meet her.” Michael was continuously rubbing his hands in excitement, filled with the urge to burst out of the room to see Gabrielle.
He was just about to turn and leave when Keiran swiftly positioned himself in front of him, blocking his path.
“Mr. Lefevre, you just mentioned she’s Mr. Zechman’s wife! Isn’t it inappropriate to see another man’s wife in the dead of night?” Keiran offered a stern reminder, silencing Michael.
The latter quickly raised his hands saving “Absolutely it’s indeed inappropriate I’ll see her when day breaks

He was a medical fanatic, coming from a family of doctors. Encountering a new technique was an opportunity that he didn’t want to miss.
“She’s been busy lately,” Jonathan said in a hoarse voice.
His words doused Michael’s enthusiasm like a bucket of cold water. Before Michael had a chance to respond, Keiran covered his mouth and forcibly dragged him away.
After Michael was taken away, Charles made his entrance.
“Mr. Zechman, when Mrs. Zechman went out earlier, the driver who escorted her saw her going into a pharmacy. After that, she was accosted by someone,” Charles reported softly on what had happened earlier.
Jonathan’s dark eyes slightly lowered, and he turned his head to glance at Charles.
“Someone was bothering her?” Jonathan asked in a hoarse voice, evidently puzzled.
Is Gabrielle entangled in a messy relationship? Or perhaps she had encountered a good–for–nothing suitor?
“Yes, it looks like it…” Charles lowered his voice as he recounted the events of that time. He then handed over an iPad with a video of the scene.
Jonathan watched the face on the video and listened to what Gabrielle had said in it. His eyes became frighteningly intense.
“Mr. Zechman, should we deal with it?” Charles asked.
Jonathan handed the iPad back to Charles, his chiseled hand reaching for the cell phone beside him. After a moment of silence, he finally spoke in a deep voice.
“No need, she should be able to handle it herself. Furthermore, when she travels out by car, instruct the driver not to monitor her. She was brought here as a substitute bride for the Seavers family, not sold to the Zechman family. This marriage to bring good luck was Grandpa’s idea, and since she has married into the Zechman family, we should treat her with respect. She has the right to privacy, so there’s no need for you to keep a constant watch on her. Also, provide for her needs at the highest standard possible. When she returns, arrange a driver for her.”
Charles was somewhat taken aback. This was the first time Jonathan had made arrangements for something outside of work.
“Understood,” Charles responded in a low voice, holding an iPad as he exited the room.
After returning to her room, Gabrielle had a couple of pastries, then washed up and went to bed. Despite being in an unfamiliar environment, she didn’t suffer from insomnia. Instead, she fell asleep as soon as she lay down.

changed into a loose black T–shirt and paired it with high–waisted baggy pants. She then tied her hair up into a high ponytail.
Carrying a stuffed backpack and a small luggage bag, she headed downstairs quickly.
The house was quiet, the footsteps of the servants barely audible as they moved about. She hurried downstairs, simultaneously hailing a ride on an app as she made her way out.
“Mrs. Zechman,” Charles called out to stop her when he saw her rushing out.
