Chapter 1
“Dad, Mom, I have agreed to go back to our hometown for a blind date and get married. I will be back by the end of this month.”
In the early spring, the weather was still cold. Sophie Ryan opened the door and made a phone call, her soft voice drifting away with the falling rain. She tightened her collar and heard her parents on the other end of the phone let out a sigh of relief
“Soph, over the years, our parents‘ health has been deteriorating. We can only hope that you can start a family soon. Now that you have thought it through, it’s good. When you come back, I will ask Aunt Helen to arrange a few suitable candidates for you to meet.”
Upon hearing that her parents had already started making arrangements, Sophie’s eyes trembled slightly, and she felt a sense of realization.
Alter
r exchanging a few more greetings, the call was disconnected.
She glanced at the house and then returned to the bedroom, starting to clean up the things.
A thick stack of love letters in the drawer, a few albums secretly taken in the cabinet, and several years worth of diaries written on the bookshelf, all about unrequited love, all related to that person named Vincent Lockwood.
Now, she threw them into the box, and then moved downstairs, without any hesitation, and set them all on fire.
The orange–yellow flames flickered, and Sophie suddenly heard footsteps behind her.
figure
She instinctively lifted her head and saw Vincent, who was wearing a sharp flight uniform and had a tall and elegant fig
He obviously had just flown back and saw her downstairs. He slightly curved his lips and asked, “What are you burning?”
He bent down and picked up a partially burned pink letter, raising an eyebrow. “A love letter? You’ve written love letters before? Who were they for?”
Sophie stared at him, about to speak, but he smiled and threw the letter into the bonfire, then ruffled her hair.
“Okay, just kidding. Why are you so well–behaved?”
“I don’t mind the past of the current, nor will I dig deep. Come back early after you finish burning, it’s cold outside.”
After saying that, he didn’t linger and stepped into the elevatot
After seeing his figure completely disappear, Sophie withdrew her gaze, and a bitter smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. Did you mind, or did you simply not care
ly not care at all?
The envelope had his name written on it, and he could see it just by taking a careful look.
But he ultimately chose to throw it into the line.
She had secretly loved her boyfriend for a whole ten years, but unfortunately, he had no idea at all.
When she was fifteen, Sophie transferred to a big city to attend high school due to her excellent grades.
At that time, she was plain and ordinary, and she didn’t know how to dress up. She looked unkempt and had no presence at all. Vincent was her classinate
At that time, he was like a bright me
moon, coming from an extraordinary family, with outstanding appearance, and was an unattainable presence for her. The first time she saw him was on the first day of school. She got on the bus but realized that her bus card was missing. The students behind her in line were impatiently complaining, saying that she should just walk if she didn’t have money. Not to mention, she was a beauty, but wearing such a tacky dress was really hindering the view.
She blushed with embarrassment, about to get off the car, when suddenly a pair of slepuder hands reached out in front and swiped the card for he
her.
She gratefully thanked the person in front of her, but when she looked up and saw the handsome face of the young man, she blushed and stammered, unble to speak a word:“Cl–classmate, my name is Sophile. Which class are you in? I will return the money to you.”
His voice was very pleasant, but he just said softly, “No need.”
Later, she found out that his name was Vincent, the heartthrob of Southvale High School, and he was notorious for belag a playboy, changing girlfriends every three days.
From that day on,
gaze would unconsciously linger on Vincent
She discovered his numerous love letters filling the desk, yet she would still stay up late to write down those ever–growing expressions of love
She knew that he liked beautiful and accomplished girls, so she studied hard, lost weight, put on makeup, and changed her timid
She worked hard to make herself better, just to deserve him.
Finally, she and he got accepted into the same university, and due to the dramatic changes, she was f
te was finally noticed by Vincent.
Land insecure personality.
In his sophomore year, Vincent approached her on his own initiative. He didn’t remember that she was his high school classmate, he just smiled and asked her if she wanted to be his girlfriend
She resisted the urge to cry and nodded in agreement.
Later, she became his 78th girlfriend, and also, the last girlfriend.
After being with her, Vincent didn’t break up after three days like before, but instead, he sincerely talked with her for six year
Everyone said that this time he was sincere, the prodigal son turned around.
Sophie also thought that she had obtained what she had longed for in her youth, countless nights spent sleeping by his side, watching his peaceful sleep, her heart filled with joy.
Until three days ago, Vincent got drunk and she went to pick him up, unexpectedly overhearing his conversation with his brother.
Brother embraced him, “Vince, you’ve been dating that girlfriend for six years, why haven’t you broken up yet?”
Vincent’s voice was hoarse, with a noticeable drunkenness, “Not yet, she would think that I am not loyal enough.”
“I saw you, you were really eaten up by that Mia Peterson. Back then, when you confessed to her, she rejected you, and you indulged yourself and became a playboy, changing girlfriends every three days just to forget about her. Later, she came back to find you, but she thought you were not loyal, so she asked you to have a stable relationship to show her, only then would she consider it. And you just casually found someone to date for six years. You, oh you, really messed up.”
It was very noisy inside, and not a single person noticed that Sophie was standing outside the door, feeling as if she had fallen into an ice cave!
She had heard of the name Mis before, it was from the neighboring school of Southvale High School, but she had never thought that Vincent liked her.
I never thought that I was just a tool for Vincent to express his love to someone else.
Her youth, her decade, collapsed with a bang.
Originally, the wind made the girl’s face blush, but I couldn’t move the boy’s heart.
The person who once trapped her youth never turned back at even glanced at her.
She figured it out and finally decided to break free, so she agreed to the blind date set up by her family.
Vincent, today marks the tenth year of my liking you, and it is also the first day I decided not to like you.
