Chapter 2
After burning everything, Sophie did not immediately go home. Instead, she sat on a bench outside for a very long time.
When I pushed the door open, Vincent had already been resting, but his phone, which he had placed on the bedside table, kept yarating
She walked over and wanted to turn it off, but accidentally opened his WhatsApp.
nopened, the screen was filled with his and Mia’s chat history,
When
“Vince, what a coincidence! I never expected to be on your flight this time when I returned to my country. You, such a nonchalant person, actually became a fearless captain in times of danger.”
Vincent remained silent for a while before replying, “Do you really not know why I became a pilot?”
Mia sent a smiling emoji: “Could it be because of me, just because I said I like guys who wear pilot uniforms?”
Vincent replied with just one word, but it was enough to shatter Sophie completely.
“Yes.”
She suddenly turned red–eyed, tears unconsciously streaming down. She quickly wiped them away and, upon exiting the chat interlace, noticed the distinct pinned symbol.
And below, there was her chat box, with a symbol on top.
Just a do not disturb.
Love and not love, just one word apart, turns out to be a world of difference.
But it doesn’t matter, she had already withdrawn
He waited for the person he liked, and she was about to start a new life
Both parties achieved their desires, and it was a win–win situation.
The next day, when the set alarm clock woke Sophie up, she realized that Vincent had already left.
He didn’t say where he was going, but she knew he had gone out to find Mix
After all, last night Mia casually mentioned that she wanted to eat breakfast at the restaurant near her old school, so he immediately booked a spot on the app
Sophie didn’t think about it anymore,
had her own things to do.
Aster finishing breakfast, she put on makeup, grabbed her bag, and wont to the company. She completed the resignation procedures.
At noon, she made a
an appointment with several college roommates and had a farewell meal together.
Several girls at the table knew her story of secretly loving him for ten years. When they heard that she planned to break up and return to her hometown for blind dates, they all sighed and felt that she had wasted the best ten years of her life.
“Soph, didn’t you feel aggrieved when you left so silently? Aren’t you planning to tell Vincent about all the unrequited love and efforts you have silently made for him before you go?!
“Yeah, you liked him so much, didn’t you try to fight for him anymore? If you had spoken up, he might have tried to keep you. It’s been ten years, even the coldest heart wouldn’t remain indifferent.”
Although Vincent’s actions were really messed up, the person who was truly with him for six years la you, right? That girl must have already gone abroad, and maybe he just had a youthful obsession with her.
Sophie knew they all pitied her.
But she had made up her mind, she didn’t want to do these meaningless things anymore, and she shook her head gently.
“He didn’t like me, said it was meaningless, so he decided to end it cleanly and leave with dignity.”
Séring her resolute attitude, everyone co
could no longer persuade her. They could only sigh one after another, hoping that she would find another suitable
Several people chatted for over an hour and finally dispersed.
After finishing the last drink, Sophie went home and still felt energetic.
She took advantage of the good weather and cleared out all the things she had bought over the years.
Couple’s clothes, cups, dolls piled up in the cabinet over the years, razors in the bathroom, cosmetics filling up the dressing table..
One by one, they were all carefully selected and bought by her, but now they have all ended up in the garbage dump.
The originally warm bedroom, kitchen, and living room were left vacant, empty and desolate.
Sophie knew that, after she left, these vacant spaces would soon be filled with new items.
They all had a common, new mistress, Mia
For the next three or four days, Vincent did not come home and did not send a single message.
Sophie didn’t care where he went, slowly packing up his luggage.
On Friday, it was her birthday. She went out and ordered a cake, and bought herself a bouquet of flowers.
She had just put the flowers into the vase when she received a call from Vincent.
“Soph, I was downstairs at your company, and your colleague said you resigned. What happened?”
Upon hearing this, a hint of surprise flashed across Sophie’s face.
Vincent had never picked her up from the company after being together for so long
Although she didn’t know why he suddenly had the idea, she couldn’t truthfully explain the reason for his resignation. She found an excuse and said, “I have been feeling exhausted lately and I want to take a break at home for a while.”
Vincent didn’t ask any further, he just asked for her address and said he would pick her up and take her somewhere.
Half an hour later, two people met at the doorstep and Sophie got on the car
She didn’t ask him where he was going, nor did she ask him why he hadn’t come back these days.
Just quietly watching the scenery outside the window, remaining silent all the way.
