Benjamin fell silent as well; they weren’t in the same team after all. Indeed, Team B’s meal time didn’t involve anyone from Team A. He couldn’t blame Gabrielle for this.
While he dared not voice it out, his patience, too, had its limits.
While Chloe was a sheltered heiress, he also came from a distinguished family. Neither of them had ever experienced such hardship. Now, the idea of appeasing Chloe on an empty stomach was beginning to irritate him.
“Ben, I’m not blaming you. I’m sorry.” Sensing his mood, Chloe became all coy, hugging Benjamin’s arm and swaying it gently.
Benjamin’s anger slowly dissipated.
“In the future, during the live streams, try not to clash with her, Benjamin said in a low voice. “If we need to deal with her, let’s do it privately. Otherwise, you might end up becoming a social pariah, and what will you do if you can’t clear your name then?”
His words were enough to bring Chloe to tears.
Softly, she asked, “Ben, do you really think I’m the one causing her trouble? I’m not! I truly want to get along with her! Why does she have to hate me so much?”
As she spoke, tears swirled in her eyes.
“There, there, don’t cry!” Benjamin said, leading her toward the fire. “Let’s eat some meat first, then get a good night’s sleep.” The fire died out right at that moment, leaving behind a pile of ashes.
Benjamin was about to continue the conversation when he saw Caleb rise and dust off his clothes. Caleb declared, “I’ve finished my meal. I’m going back to sleep now.”
“Ms. Seavers, would you like something to eat?” Upon noting Chloe’s approach, Ryan immediately cut some food for her. Alas, the fire had gone out, and the meat was still undercooked. He and Caleb had eaten the charred pieces, leaving the bloody portions untouched. The sight brought tears to Chloe’s eyes once again.
“I’m not eating: you guys go ahead,” Chloe said, rising to leave.
She hurriedly caught up with Caleb, following his silhouette into the cave. Once inside, she swiftly grabbed hold of his arm.
“Are you angry?” Chloe asked, biting her lip pitifully.
Caleb’s masculine face clouded over. He inhaled sharply, prying her hand away as he said, “Ms. Seavers, we’re here to participate in a variety show. What were you thinking, luring the wild boar to attack Gabrielle? If she ended up dead, how would that be good news for either of us?”
He continued, “We agreed that she would marry in your place! I was to step in afterward, and now you want to kill her? Wouldn’t that be a complete waste of our plans?”
Chloe was taken aback. His icy gaze caused her to stagger backward.
She watched as he strode off nonchalantly to lay down nearby, seemingly indifferent to her fate.
She moved closer and stood next to him, whining. “But I haven’t eaten anything yet.
She had hoped to stir up his empathy but realized that Caleb hadn’t even glanced at her once. Chloe stood there biting her lip, a wave of resentment rising within her.
She hadn’t anticipated that even though the photographer had finished for the day, there were countless hidden cameras scattered across the deserted island. Unbeknownst to them, their every move was being broadcast live.
That was the reason she boldly and unreservedly revealed her true self, unaware that she was sealing her fate in stone.

Netizen One: What a spoiled princess. She used to maintain this facade of a kind–hearted and simple beauty, but that’s all crumbled now, Masu’t it?
Netizen Two: What’s wrong with Ryan? He actually stooped to stealing to win over these people. That’s low! He’s a rotten apple. I don’t want to see him around anymore.
Netizen Three: Chloe called Benjamin her brother a few times! Are they actually siblings? I had never heard of it before.
Netizen Four Quick, someone check this up! Is Benjamin the heir of Seavers Group? He mentioned before that he has Gabrielle’s contract under his control. Is he planning to stir up trouble?
Netizen Five: That was downright unbearable to watch. Chloe is just constantly flirting with the men. She’s just endlessly provocative.
Even Chloe’s fans fell silent, their eyes glued to the live stream. The woman they saw on screen was almost unrecognizable compared to her usual polished, marketed image. They watched as she flirted with yet another man on screen.
They had wanted to defend her innocence, but the footage of her luring the wild boar and causing it to charge at Gabrielle had left everyone quite shaken.
If Gabrielle had been less agile, she would have probably died earlier.
Another angry comment surfaced: What a pretentious b*tch Chloe Seavers is the living embodiment of that personality!
Before Chloe’s diehard fans could voice their thoughts, they were already drowned out by a barrage of angry comments.
The internet was flooded with videos of Chloe luring the wild boar to charge at Gabrielle, as well as images of her flaunting herself in a camisole.
Chloe had planned to leverage her popularity from the variety show to outshine Nadia. By riding on the fame of the show, she aimed to secure the lead role in a renowned director’s blockbuster TV show.
Unexpectedly, on the day the reality show was aired, her various acts of coquettishness and provocations had left the director visibly frustrated.
A news headline soon emerged online: Breaking! Renowned director issues emergency announcement, refusing to collaborate with
The lead role in the blockbuster show was originally reserved for Chloe. The potential hit TV show was just waiting for Chloe to return from her variety show stint and sign on.
Who knew that a live broadcast could turn the tables so quickly. Chloe’s every action left the film crew astounded. The director was so freaked out that he promptly boycotted her that very night.
When the news reached Zachary, it was already half past one in the morning. He hastily made a call to the director, only to be told there was no need for further discussion. They were no longer considering a collaboration with Chloe.
Meanwhile, on the remote island, Chloe was oblivious to the fact that her actions had jeopardized the role she had been striving for half a year to secure. Even now, she was still dreaming of completing her variety show filming and immediately joining the crew.
Chloe’s fans appeared to have found an opportunity to demean Gabrielle. One of them wrote: Didn’t Gabrielle predict that there would be a windstorm tonight? It’s past midnight now, and everything is still as calm as ever! Isn’t this just embarrassing? She’s just some bit player trying to steal the limelight.
Another comment read: Exactly! Gabrielle, get out of the variety show, you fraud.
However, they discovered that none of the two hundred thousand people online were paying attention to their words.
Though many viewers had already gone to bed, there were still two hundred thousand people online, eager to see if Gabrielle
was right
However, as time went on, nothing happened. Everyone’s enthusiasm waned, and they prepared to go to sleep.

hocked comments flooded the stream: Damn, what’s going on?
Comment two: Is that thunder? It’s really happening?
Those who were just about to turn off the live stream immediately perked up.

Inside the cave, Gabrielle and the others had fallen into a deep sleep after an exhausting day. They had barely laid down before they drifted off, only to be abruptly woken by a startling clap of thunder. Nadia opened her eyes.
She saw a lightning bolt descend from the sky, striking down at the cave’s entrance, its flickering flames seemingly about to set the trees ablaze.
“Gabby” Nadia, frightened, hastily nudged Gabrielle.
Gabrielle was already awake by the time the thunder began to rumble.
Watching the thunder and lightning flashing outside, she quickly sat up. Jennifer, too, was so spooked that she let out a scream, her face full of confusion.
“What’s wrong?” Jennifer asked, her face pale with fright.
She got up and discovered that the trees outside had been scorched.
With a thunderous roar, lightning flashed again, descending from the heavens. It struck the century–old tree, causing it to sway a few times.
Taken aback, Brendan quickly got up, clad in his beach shorts. He hastily picked up his gold–rimmed glasses and put them on before heading toward the cave entrance.
