Chapter 25
He leaned closer to his dad and kissed him on his cheek.
“Dad, I just came
came to check on you.” He whispered to him, but he just smiled and shook his
head.
“You are always working. Come and join us at least once.”
“Dad, tam busy.”
“This is what I am talking about. You are always busy. I don’t know how long I will live
live. Spend some time with me,” he said. Asher swallowed again. The least he wanted was to stay with them.
He pulled a chair out next to his father and sat down.
“Perfect,” Lory said, and she clapped her hand. An omega ran inside the room, lowering his head, but Asher could see his face. It was bruised. The boy was about sixteen, and probably he was beaten up daily.
“Move.” Lucy commanded. And the boy quickly set the table for Asher. Asher felt sorry for him, but he said nothing. After he was served, he ate a few bites, but he had no appetite at all Three omegas appeared to take their dirty plates when they got to the desert. The boy accidentally broke a glass, and Asher just looked away while the Delta stood up, pushed the boy to the wall, and punched him a few times; then, he grabbed his torn clothes and dragged him out of the room, Asher tried to breathe but felt he couldn’t stay any longer. He stood up suddenly,
“Where are you going, son?” Arthur asked him in surprise.
“I just can’t stay any longer, Dad. Would you like
examine you, or do you want me to return sometime this week?” he asked nervously. None of them
expected the old beta, Lucy’s father, to interrupt their conversation.
“Our doctors are taking care of Arthur, Asher,” he said with an attitude that instantly angered Asher.
Everyone looked at him suddenly, Lucy and the Delta family agreed. Arthur looked sadly at his son, and he dared say nothing. For a moment, Arthur’s behaviour surprised Asher. He was the Alpha, and no one should tell him what to do or how he would lead his pack. His father changed, and not for good That made Asher furious,
am a doctor, and this is my father. No one should tell me what I can do. Only my father is authorised to give out orders here.”
Harry put his napkin on the table, ready to stand up. However, everyone’s attention moved to the place next to him.
“Enough,” Lucy shouted. She knew what her father was going to say. He wanted to tell Asher he was a traitor because he was healing humans. He tried to tell him he was disgraceful because he left the pack and his mate alone when he should have helped his ill father instead of living his happy life outside the human world.
Lucy puts her palm on her fathers shoulder, which makes Harry realize what he is about to do. He held his napkin again before continuing to eat.
Tum braving. I’ll see you all later,” Asher said, leaving. If his father had not sat in a wheelchair, he would have run after him, but as Asher stormed out of the room, he knew he would not have reached him. Lucy, however, could not let it be, and she followed Asher. Asher had just reached the main door whris Lucy stopped him.
“Asher, please ignore m
father. He couldn’t forgive you since…” she sighed. Please don’t make a big deal of it.
*What should he have to forgive me for?” Asher looked at her, and his hatred scared Lucy a little. But she quickly hid her feelings and looked at Asher.
“That, you d
didn’t believe me.”
Asher’s eyes widened, and he could tear Lucy apart. Because he knew Luty had everyone behind her, he decided to leave it.
They might believe you, but I’m not blind. Good night.”
Asher turned around, and this time, Lucy didn’t follow him. She realized he was angry and didn’t want Asher to stop talking to her
He walked out, frustrated. He only wanted to return home and promised himself he wouldn’t come for a while. His father said nothing when the pack doctor was mentioned, which offended him. If he wanted the pack doctor to examine and heal him, he had nothing to do there.
